Roberts Manufacturing Co Ltd (RMCO), a SQF certified manufacturer of shortening, margarine, soybean oil, animal feeds and dog food, invites suitably qualified applicants for the post of JUNIOR PURCHASING OFFICER. The specifics for the post are as follows:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our procurement team in acquiring materials and supplies necessary for our manufacturing operations. This includes identifying, evaluating and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors, assisting in maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring the timely procurement of quality goods and supplies at the best possible prices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Identifies, evaluates and establishes relationships with suppliers and vendors, and negotiates terms, prices, and contracts to secure cost-effective and reliable sources of materials.
  2. Researches local and potential vendors and collects prices, specifications, and any other data related to goods and services.
  3. Generates purchase orders based on requests from Department Heads or relevant personnel authorized to request purchases ensuring accuracy in quantities and specifications.
  4. Coordinates with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolves any delivery-related issues.  Updates the management system with shipping and arrival dates to assist with the necessary tracking of orders.  Additionally, follows up with vendors to check in on late shipments or to report damaged goods.
  5. Collaborates with other departments, such as production and engineering services, to ensure smooth material flow and timely delivery of raw materials, goods and services.
  6. Applies for necessary Licenses and Permits to facilitate importation of certain shipments.
  7. Supports the Senior Purchasing Officer in analysing purchasing data, generating reports and making data-driven recommendations.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  •   Associate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role (manufacturing industry experience preferred but not required)
  • Prior knowledge and experience in customs management software such as ASYCUDA would be an asset.
