Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and

efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Engineer will play a crucial

role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and longevity of our fleet while minimizing downtime and

maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs:

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on all fleet vehicles, including garbage compactors, open tops, and garbage skips.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, coordinating necessary repairs and parts replacements.
• Schedule and manage regular maintenance services, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.

Fleet Management:

• Ensure all vehicles and equipment comply with safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns.
• Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies to improve fuel efficiency.
• Evaluate and recommend fleet upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Utilizing GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft.

Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure efficient fleet deployment and Scheduling
• Assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet
• Supervise and provide guidance to maintenance technicians and mechanics.
• Procure necessary parts and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and regulations.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols for fleet operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience as a Fleet Engineer or similar role in the automotive or waste management industry.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair techniques.
• Familiarity with waste management equipment is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
