Maintenance Technicians are responsible for ensuring the continuous running of machinery and equipment, performing routine maintenance procedures and carrying out repairs to required standards. .

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintaining & repairing refrigeration systems and equipment
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems
  • Troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing equipment maintenance.
  • Make regular checks on machinery according to a planned schedule
  • Repair breakdowns on machines and equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Replacing worn seals, outer shells, and worn-out motors.
  • Check and calibrate instruments to standard
  • Replace parts on equipment as part of a routine maintenance plan
  • Assist with machinery and equipment installations when necessary
  • Assist with electrical and mechanical improvements to plant and equipment
  • Work closely with Shift Managers/Supervisors to increase availability and effectiveness of equipment
  • Ensure that maintenance work is completed on time, to set standards
  • Assist in the commissioning of equipment
  • Ensure that any concerns, with equipment, which may affect production is communicated to Shift Managers/Supervisors in a timely manner
  • Ensure that proper equipment safety procedures are adhered to
  • Any other reasonable task as required 

Performance Standards : 

  • Work completed is on time and to set standards
  • Maintenance schedules are adhered to and equipment maintenance is completed within agreed time frames.
  • Maintenance records are maintained and correctly updated within agreed time frames
  • Reports are submitted within agreed time frames and appropriate formats 

Required Competencies:

Technical

  • Good mechanical skills
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
  • Able to use and interpret electrical measuring instruments
  • Have a working knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing cooling systems
  • Excellent knowledge of boiler operations
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment

  • Able to work well on own or as a member of a team
  • Good communication and written skills
  • Able to work on own initiative

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:  

  • HEART Level 2 HVAC Certification
  • Two (2) years experience in servicing refrigeration and industrial cooling systems
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge and experience                         

Working Conditions 

  • Exposed to oil and grease
  • Exposed to moving parts on machines
  • Exposed to high temperatures
  • Exposed to flammable substances
  • Exposed to pressurized equipment/vessels
  • May have to work above ground level (heights)

Salary Range: $2,478,112.00 - $3,332,784.00 per annum
