To create a roadmap for the implementation of BIM into NH’s project workflows, manage and enforce BIM standards and processes to improve construction efficiency and productivity.

Job Purpose:

To create a roadmap for the implementation of BIM into NH’s project workflows, manage and enforce BIM standards and processes to improve construction efficiency and productivity. 
Duties and Responsibilities:

Training

  • Provide fundamental and intermediate training to staff on all BIM software, through a training program.
  • Conduct continuing education on BIM processes and its new technologies.
  • Provide technical orientation/onboarding to new hires regarding BIM tools.
  • Provide onboarding to consultants.

Software

  • Coordinate with the IT manager on the selection of BIM software products, such as appropriate software, licensing compliance, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software, and customizing software for specific firm needs.
  • Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM.
  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies.
  • Stay informed on best practices for Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, and their integration with other software products.

Standardization

  • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement.
  • Creation and maintenance of the template files to assure standardization across all construction sites.
  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions.
  • Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity.
  • Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all shop drawings produced.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards.
  • Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of BIM users to ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of BIM models.

Management

  • Ensure regular communication and coordination among BIM/Revit users.
  • Report periodically to the directors on the company’s current and projected state of BIM implementation.
  • Create and lead deployment strategies for the BIM implementation.
  • Evaluate the firm’s current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing needs, etc.
  • Execute the plan, install the software, get templates created, and oversee training.

Technical support

  • Provide hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production.
  • Support the BIM technology needs of the company.
  • Troubleshoot problems.
  • Liaise with vendors, software developer support staff and other support channels.

Project workflow

  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup, project work modeling, detailing and coordination
  • Assist/create Revit families that are project specific.
  • Create project schedules with content based on the BIM model.
  • Help resolve BIM design issues and improve coordination.
  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team.
  • Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT.
  • Communicate with consultants to receive, coordinate and update all electronic models.
  • Link BIM to the project construction phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings, schedules and costs.

Experience:

  • Experience working in Construction Industry in creating and managing Building Information Models as part of a Construction Site Team.
  • Must have experience in field construction, preferably as a Trade Contractor, Project Engineer, Project/Construction Manager, Project Superintendent role.
  • Experience in Training construction team in BIM environment. Training in creating building information models that meet employers exchange information requirements.
  • Proven experience in Asset Data Capture and integration into BIM Modelling.
  • Strong document control knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or higher-level degree in Engineering or Construction related Design.
  • Strong technical training and extensive experience in a construction related discipline.
  • High proficiency in BIM. Formal qualifications are advantageous specifically in Creating Virtual Building Models using Autodesk Revit.

  • Excellent communication skills. 

Competency Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge use of Revit including, but not limited to, creating templates, filters, design options, phases, model quantities schedules.
  • Excellent knowledge in creating parametric Revit families (BIM Content)
  • Experience working with ISO 19650 or similar.
  • Good Knowledge and experience with using Navisworks for coordination and 4D.
  • Experience in producing models and drawing packages from Concept to For Construction.
  • An awareness of the impact and best-use cases for AI and data analysis would be an advantage.

Technology:

  • Intermediate to advanced software knowledge in Autodesk Design Authoring and Review packages (Revit, Navisworks, BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a BIM environment with Autodesk AEC Software - Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, and Coordination Cloud Based platforms such as AutoDesk Construction Cloud or Procore.
