Pharmacy Technician

CORE FUNCTION:

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician prepares, sorts and packages prescription drugs accordingly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Selecting drugs from stock for preparation; counts, pours, or mixes same; places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes label to container.
2. Monitoring prescription inventory for expired stock to be returned to  Suppliers.
3. Receiving prescriptions and obtaining information from patient.
4. Entering patient information on system and maintaining patient profiles                              
5. Assisting customers with queries relating to dispensing of drugs.
6. Assisting with billing of Invoices.
7. Updating provider accounts in terms of payments and following up re unpaid  claims
8. Receiving and packing of Pharmaceutical Inventory, including Jadep   stock.
9. Filing of Jadep and all other prescriptions

 EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Pharmacy Technician Certificate
• 5 CSEC subjects including Mathematics and English
• Minimum 2 years work experience
