Senior Accountant

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

a)     Maintain the Accounts Payable system – foreign and local suppliers; enter transactions into the system;

b)     Costing of all overseas supplies;

c)     Verify the authenticity of all cash and charge bills prior to payment;

d)     Generate cheque payments both manual and computerized;

e)     Ensure the timely payments of the company’s financial obligations in particular payment of foreign and large suppliers, credit cards and utility bills;

f)      Prepare on a timely basis monthly and statutory returns – Payroll, GCT, Annual Returns;

g)     Record, monitor and provide information on the cash position of all bank accounts;

h)     Prepare weekly payroll for all depots, as well as audit production and outsourced payroll;

i)      Audit daily /weekly/ monthly reports from depots; petty cash, etc.

j)      Balance all cash positions for all cashiers /depots;

k)     Review stock counts and assist with analysis of variances;

l)      Monitor price changes and ensure that all prices are updated on the system;

m)   Assist with preparation of financial statements

n)     Perform detailed monthly reviews and analysis of financial performance to aid decision making;

o)     Ensure that accounting and/or audit schedules are prepared, analysed and adjusted on a monthly basis;

p)     Assist with ensuring the timely generation of the Financial Statements; by compiling source documentation for journal entries and data entry into the General Ledger;

q)     Financial analysis and investigation of variances;

r)      Assist with budgeting and cash flow projections;

s)      Assist in the improvement and implementation of accounting practices and projects;

t)      Assist Management with various activities as may be requested to provide various management reports;

u)     Liaise with external auditors;

v)     Assist with other administrative functions as may be required from time to time;

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • At least 3 years experience as an accountant at a senior/supervisory level
