The Accounting Technician will provide support to the finance department by assisting in the control and payment of salaries and wages and general accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the smooth operation of key financial processes.

  • Computes fortnightly and monthly payrolls
  • Checks and ensures that salary is correctly computed by the System and any differences/errors found are promptly corrected;
  • Ensures that overpayment of salaries are promptly recovered;
  • Maintains continuous record of salary particulars of each employee on the payroll, showing such information as date of appointment, incremental date, post, cost centre, salary scale, present salary and notes regarding acting appointment, etc.;
  • Calculate and process vacation and sick pay.
  • Prepares payroll adjustments.
    • · Checks and processes overtime, supper, mileage, taxi, refreshments and subsistence;
  • Prepare statutory returns.
  • Prepares and updates payroll journal vouchers
    • Maintains and balances the “On and Off” Salary Control Register for each payroll run;
    • · Maintains and organizes accounting records; files in a manner where records are easily retrieved.
    • · Ensures the accurate preparation and filing of SO1 on a timely basis.
    • · Reconciles payroll taxes to ensure that correct amounts are paid over to Inland Revenue Department
  • Assist Director of Finance with special projects as assigned
  •  Ensures that all relevant information in connection with the payment of salaries are properly entered to the Payroll System. This include:
    • Salary particulars in respect of new employees
    • New appointments (promotions) and acting appointments
    • Details of deductions to be made from salary (Resignation, Dismissals, Vacation Leave and Dates of Resumption;
  • Checks and verifies that all statutory deductions and other authorized deductions are made and paid over promptly;
  • Prepares Leave Certificate (P45) and Last Pay Certificate (P24);
  • Prepares Payment/Lodgement Vouchers;
  • Maintains and balances Salary Control Register for each payroll run.
  • Verify the accuracy of financial documents and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  • Support the accounts payable function by reviewing and coding payment vouchers, ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing schedules and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and update vendor and customer records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions and records.
  • Collaborate with other members of the finance team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Stay updated with accounting principles, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and suggest process improvements.
