 BUSINESS ANALYST

Purpose of position

1.   Conduct business analysis functions for internal development projects and assigned major projects.
2. Support design development and testing for strategic projects. 

Principal Responsibilities:

•  Elicit and translate business requirements from internal customers into functional and non-functional requirements to be used by software development teams or vendors responsible for delivering the technical solutions to meet the business objectives.
• Function as liaison between business users and technical staff to facilitate communication and ensure an understanding of the requirements.
• Participate in the development or procurement process as the requirements liaison between the business customer and the development team and/or vendor.
• Work closely with project sponsors and business owners to understand business processes and recommend innovative solutions.
• Apply best practices and established standards to elicit, analyze, document, validate and communicate requirements, business processes, and business rules.
• Coordinate requirements clarification and resolution of issues/concerns identified by all stakeholders, and updates requirements artefacts to reflect resolution.

 Business Intelligence:

• Develop, recommend and communicate timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable insights to support business decisions and objectives.
• Discover and/or anticipate problems or opportunities where data can be leveraged to address identified needs.
• Translate business needs to build and design reporting solutions (metric management, dashboards, enterprise performance management).
•  Conduct verification of IT solutions to ensure user requirements and business value is achieved.

Required Qualification, experience and key competencies: 

The successful candidate should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
• Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP)
• A minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Software Development Lead and Business Analysis for Software Implementations with focus on IT and technical projects in the financial industry.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies and development in multiple technologies.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & MS Project) and related productivity tools.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in the support and management of and/or directing the support and management of complex business critical systems and applications across multiple business processes and technologies.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle process, production acceptance, project management, database technology, and operating system components.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, presentation, consultative, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and the capacity to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
