Overview / Responsibilities

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Materials Coordinator with experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. 

The Materials  Coordinator is responsible for assisting with administrative and technical support necessary for site procurement and materials management in respect to Construction activities.  

 The incumbent is required to maintain a focus on key deliverables and effective Subcontracts, fabrication and Purchase Order administration activities including but not limited to the following: -

  • Expediting discipline input to construction work-packs & provide timely information with respect to availability of materials, equipment and services in respect of the work-packs at each defined stage of the approval cycle.
  • Liaison with the Construction teams, Procurement and warehouse and logistics contractor to co-ordinate the prioritized call-off of materials to satisfy the Projects construction plan.
  • Communication with the Procurement team & the Project fabrication contractors to expedite deliveries, schedules, arrange returns, notify of complaints or rejections.
  • Communication with the HSSE Team to ensure timely pre-mobilization checks.
  • Ensuring that the Construction Team Leader & other responsible project members are aware of any external or internal problems with regards to fabrication scopes & related materials issues.
  • Providing input to and / or prepare weekly status reports on behalf of the Construction team giving a summary of the status of fabrication scopes & construction progress.
  • Coordination of Inspection Release of materials and fabrications in conjunction with the Responsible Construction Engineer/SPA.
  • Understanding the Project Planning and Scheduling methodologies (Primavera P6).
  • Liaison with the Project planner to provide accurate updates to the overall Project plan.
  • Providing detailed Procurement Status Reports (PSR), in line with project reporting deadlines.
  • Reviewing performance feedback in respect of materials and services providers.
  • Coordinating responses and discipline review from Technical, Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Assurance (HSE & QA).
  • Preparing and maintaining structured and indexed files in respect of Subcontract and Purchase Order Documents and store in subcontract files.
  • Implementing improvement plans where there is a significant gap between expectations and Subcontractor actual performance.
  • Personally abide by ethical practice in all dealings with company vendors.
  • Performs all other related job functions as required.
  • Manage all backload activities from assets inclusive of maintaining the backload tracker.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.Sc.) or relevant qualification a recognized university.
  • Five (5) years minimum with an Oil & Gas industry main contractor in a Project environment.
  • On / offshore construction project materials co-ordination experience.
  • Proficient in Maximo Asset Management.
  • Interfacing with Suppliers, Engineering, QA/QC, Document Control, Procurement, and Client representatives.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to work effectively, prioritise and develop realistic action plans in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Proficient in Computer Applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Word & Excel).

Material Handler

Overview / Responsibilities

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Materials Handler with experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. 

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting the receiving, storing and issuing of materials as well as their preparation, kitting, inspection and consolidation in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Effectively communicate with Materials Coordinator to fulfill requests from Company and or the client
  • Maximo trained and competent
  • Efficiently and accurately Receive, Receipt and put away materials in SAP.
  • Efficiently pick, package and issue/dispatch materials in SAP
  • Observe proper packaging techniques for shipping of materials to on and offshore locations.
  • Review daily equipment checks to assure their integrity and their capacity to execute normal tasks in a safe manner.
  • Support tools and equipment management
  • Storage of materials assuring proper materials preparation for storage and following minimum safety requirements to assure materials integrity
  • Follow adequate hazardous materials management
  • When receiving Hazardous Materials consult incompatibility matrix, SDS and ensure they are only store beside compatible materials.
  • Apply adequate recommendations given by manufacturers to provide adequate preservation of the materials while they are stored in the warehouse
  • Safe keep and safeguard all equipment at warehouse and the warehouse facility
  • Participate in all HSE initiatives and trainings.
  • Promote general order and cleanness of warehouse and optimize the use of available resources
  • Provide logistic support for the maintenance department in their efforts to search and locate available materials in SAP Maximo and at the warehouse
  • Liaise with material coordinators in order to define if materials received at the warehouse must be store or shipped immediately to one of the facilities.
  • When required must fill an Overage, Shortage, Discrepancy or Damage (OSDD) form and report any inconvenient presented by the items being delivered.
  • Print labels and tag all the items received and assure all items being issued have the correct labels.
  • Participate in all HSSE initiatives and trainings.
  • Execute every task in a safe manner and identify and correct any unsafe acts.
  • Any out of normal event or non-conformance must be reported.
  • Adhere to all HSSE policies/procedures and participate in Leading Indicators that will result in a Zero Accidents culture. 
  • Attend toolbox meetings.
  • Performs all other related job functions as required.
Skills/Qualifications
  • A Technician's Diploma or Associate Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in Warehouse Management preferably in the oil and gas or energy industries.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with SAP (MM Module)
  • Must be able to read and understand written procedures, shipping documents, safety manuals, and safety warning signs.
  • Must be able to give and receive oral instructions and directions.
  • Knowledge in Hazardous Material Management and spill containment would be an asset
  • Knowledge in Warehousing storage standards..
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure.
  • Banksman certification would be an asset.
  • Customer Service oriented.
  • Forklift certification would be an asset ( 3T – 15T Forklift).
