The incumbent will be responsible for driving strategic analyses, growth visions, and strong collaboration with peers in cross-functional teams across insights, product, marketing, and partnerships to prioritize key critical initiatives.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee strategic alternative payment initiatives across the Group from development through monitoring and tracking to successful execution and ultimately reporting back on final results/outcomes viz-a-viz the initial strategic objectives
  • Support the CEO and the Executive team in decision-making, program management, and key initiatives implementation
  • Review, design, and execute on improvements of operational efficiency, change management and performance management
  • Ability to shift between competing priorities constantly thinking of ways to streamline workflows and improve efficiencies in work
    • Ability to drive discussions and presentations at all levels of the organization
    • Excellent communication, process, and project management skills
    • Thrive in entrepreneurial settings where creativity and grit are required
    • Manage the GADP budgeting process
    • Assist with the management of strategic initiatives and programmes spearheaded by GAPD

     

    MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    (1)   Strategy Execution

     

    1. Assist the CEO in facilitating effective decision-making within the Company’s senior management team
    2. Keep up with industry trends by reading literature, communication with peers and attendance at industry events; on basis of this, is a go-to source for reliable and up to date Industry statistics, data and general information
    3. Provide actionable periodic strategic intelligence (based on internal and external data analysis, and insights) to the CEO and leadership team to support strategic decisions, shifts, and responses
    4. Participate in the evolution and is responsible for the articulation of key strategic initiatives across the company; communicates, drives and tracks these initiatives, reporting progress back to the CEO weekly, monthly or as otherwise needed
    5. Ensure successful implementation of the key initiatives within agreed timelines, demonstrates dynamism and flexibility in following through and allocating responsibilities across departments and team members, based on resources availability, skill levels and competing priorities
    6. Partner with functional Team Leads and HODs, reviewing weekly and monthly reports to identify, evaluate and resolve priority strategic issues as they arise; bringing these to the CEO and Executive team attention and institutionalizing agreed changes to procedures and processes where necessary
    7. Participate in regular periodic meetings between CEO and HODs as well as meetings with other Team Leads and members, keeping record of decisions reached, action points and following through to report back on successful implementation
    8. Review inquiries directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate team member to handle, recording all, tracking and reporting on resolution
    9. Act as a representative of the CEO and carries out other tasks and duties as assigned
    10. Develop decision support material for key strategic decisions involving problem definition, analysis of situation, evaluation of options and recommendation
    11. Conduct insightful diagnostics through analysis, expert interviews, and workshops
    12. Communicate conclusions and recommendations in Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and memorandums
    13. Engage with stakeholders across the organization
    14. Provide ad hoc management support on various tasks
    15. Utilizes a variety of analytical tools to expediently gather and analyze data, to determine the effectiveness of strategic objectives and to make recommendations to the CEO and TLs

     

    (2)   Special Projects

     

    1. Display effective oversight in respect of the company’s crucial projects, sitting in on meetings on behalf of the CEO and monitoring, trouble shooting and reporting on progress (with recommendations for improvement in effectiveness, efficiency and acceleration) on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis or as otherwise needed
    2. Provide direct SME support for initiatives led by GADP as assigned
    3. Participate in project meetings and complete the following as required within agreed performance standards:
      1.  Record action items as required.
      2. Ensure that all status reports for all projects are completed and distributed to the appropriate distribution lists within the agreed time
      3. Consolidates information for project meetings, as requested by Team Leader/Project Manager
      4. Assists with the preparation of meeting presentations
      5.  Ensures that all required documentation for all projects are completed and signed off
    1. Manage and maintain physical and electronic files for all projects undertaken by the GAPD

    • Keep fully abreast with knowledge of the full range of the digital payments services being offered by the competition, which will enable prompt matching of their potential benefits with the current and perceived needs of existing and new Agents
    • Be conversant with and well achieved in a practical proficiency of the “Know Your Customer” or “Customer Acquisition Due Diligence” requirement of the Anti-Money Laundering policies and according to legislations and/or regulations
    • Ensure that the Client Partnership 2x5x7 principles are adhered to at all times
    • Be conversant with the Operating Directions for Remittance Companies Guidance Manual published by the Bank of Jamaica
    • Be conversant with the Bank of Jamaica National Payment System to include the policies and guidelines, as well as the FinTech Regulatory Sandbox
    • Be conversant with the major payment solutions available in the national and international markets

     

    EDUCATION, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

     

    Minimum Educational Requirements:

     (a)   Specific Knowledge (however acquired) Required to Start:

    • Highly computer literate; expertise in use of Microsoft Office suite
    • Good knowledge of laws, government and policies relating to the remittance and payment sectors
    • A good awareness of the local and relevant regional anti-money laundering acts/draft legislation
    • Able to communicate effectively with clients and team members at all levels
    • Ability to negotiate with clients

     

     (b)  Qualifications & Experience

    • Tertiary level education, with a Masters in Finance, Management or Business Administration
    • Minimum of seven years in a senior management or executive management role

     

      (c)   Required Skills and Specialized Techniques:

    • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments
    • Excellent and persuasive communicator – written and oral
    • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
    • Experience in planning and leading the implementation of strategic initiatives
