TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS OFFICER
The Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), the only specialized maritime university in the English-speaking Caribbean, is inviting applications for TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS OFFICER (LEVEL 4).
Job Purpose
The Transportation & Logistics Officer will be responsible for fulfilling customers’ needs and for meeting those customers’ expectations. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Drivers and Bike Bearer in the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the University. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules & routes, ensuring that all vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers and the Bike Bearer are aware of their duties.
Additionally, the Transportation & Logistics Officer will work to rectify issues experienced by individual customers as well as aim to improve the University’s overall customer satisfaction ratings.
Key Outputs
- Monthly reports prepared.
- Performance reports prepared.
- Work schedules developed and maintained.
- Vehicle Maintenance plans created and updated as per requirement.
- Vehicle documentation and registration maintained.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Plans routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries for all Drivers and the Bike Bearer.
- Bookings of deliveries and liaising with customers.
- Allocates and records resources and movements on the transport planning system.
- Ensures all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicates effectively with clients and responds to their requirements.
- Books sub-contractors and ensures they deliver within agreed terms, especially for students’ Intercollegiate sports activities.
- Directs all transportation activities and develops transportation relationships.
- Liaises with all Departments/Faculties regarding all transportation request
- Monitors transport costs.
- Negotiates and bargains transportation prices for external clients.
- Ensures consistent and effective communication with all internal and external clients
- Provides monthly report to Supervisor on all transportation and logistics activities.
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the drivers and bearers.
- Supports the creation of effective teamwork in order to achieve the unit’s objectives and targets.
- Provides day-to-day management support in the Facilities Management Department and developments continual performance improvement systems.
- Supports the establishment of processes, systems and controls within the unit to enable achievement of its objectives effectively and efficiently.
Required Competencies
- Sound knowledge of Transport Law
- Sound knowledge of Human Resource Management
- Ability to manage limited resources to achieve challenging output targets.

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
- At least 3 years’ experience in similar position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Practical experience working with sales organizations and customers.
- Experienced customer service representative
- Requisite certificates
