The incumbent is expected to be dedicated to providing unfailing support to all stakeholders in the unit to ensure customer satisfaction as well as contribute to the sustainable growth and development of business for Beacon.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide timely quotations for all classes of business in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Bind Coverage for quotations provided and accept New Business for all classes of insurance in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Provide immediate Proof of Cover as may be required.
  • To provide timely sign off on all Policy and other Documents as required.
  • Continuously ensure compliance with all The Beacon’s guidelines, manuals, corporate policies and SOPs. 
  • Consistently identify new opportunities for cross -selling and up-selling the company’s products across Direct Team.
  • To assist in the formulation, development and implementation of special projects
  • To assist, Supervisor and Senior Management with effectively growing Beacon’s book of business. 
  • Develop Business through improvement of relationships with customers.
  • To assist with unallocated accounting queries and billing queries.
  • To maintain Beacon’s book of business under your perview by ensuring policies are renewed through continuous communication with the Customers. 
  • To assist in preparation monthly reports on business written and overall performance of the book of business under your perview.
  • Timely response to all Customers queries and requests.
  • Handle queries that arise from customers concerning their accounts
  • Receive claim forms 
  • Determine coverage or absence thereof
  • Provide briefs to the claims department on the claimant and the respective risk(s).
  • Prepare No Claims Letters as required.
  • Provide guidance and updates to the Customer throughout the claim processTo provide technical advice to Customers, Agents and Underwriters when necessary. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all entries made on The Beacon’s core operating system.
  • Maintenance of Stationery for the Department
  • Maintenance of Grocery List for the Department
KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the core principles of insurance and how this is applied on a day to day basis.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the range of insurance products and services available in the market and how that knowledge can be used to meet client needs. 
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and how to meet these on a day to day basis.
  • Basic knowledge of how claims should be handled and managed.
  • Basic understanding of Beacon’s underwriting processes and procedures which is needed for new risks, alterations, renewals and/or cancellations to be processed in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Basic understanding of the factors that affect the performance of an underwriting portfolio and how risk exposure can be monitored and controlled. 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum five CXC (5), must include Math and English (No less than a grade 2)
  • CII Cert or equivalent 
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in general insurance underwriting
