The PLANT MANAGER oversees daily operations of our Central Baking Facility (CBF) for manufacturing for Maintenance, HSSE and the Quality Assurance department while ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides overall leadership, direction, and coordination for assigned CBF operations.
  • Ensures adherence to all safety policies and procedures promoting a world-class safety culture.
  • Prepares operating reports and budgets monthly and as required.
  • Ensures all assigned plant personnel are operating in compliance with plant and corporate procedures as well as compliance with customer and governmental regulations.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to improve performance, meeting and exceeding the CBFs Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provides coaching and development of assigned CBF staff to ensure effective leadership, collaboration, and balance in achieving KPIs focused on safety, quality, customer service and productivity.  
  • Monitors and set standards for operations and helps identify and correct bottlenecks.
  • Optimizes productive time for employees by eliminating unnecessary processes.
  • Increases production asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs.
  • Manages scheduling for a fully operational team.
  • Plans and supervises the design and progress of capital projects.
  • Develops and implements financial and non-financial objectives including annual budget that serves as the CBFs operating plan.
  • Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions & ensures product quality is maintained.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of products.
  • Identifies and addresses conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Coordinates maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all legal requirements, Company safety procedures and health and safety regulations are met.
  • Determines staffing requirements and oversees the interview, hiring and training of new employees with the assistance of the Human Resources Department.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring and conducts evaluations of all subordinate managers within the department.
  • Establishes and implements departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the executive members, management team and staff as necessary.
  • Meets regularly with department heads/business unit leaders; facilitates resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments.

POSITION PROFILE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Training as evidenced by a M.Sc. Degree in Quality Management, Food Science, Chemistry or Biology and/or related discipline.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety & Quality Principles
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Operating Standards
  • Computer Literate in a Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc)
  • Understanding of the Labour Laws and HR Policies and Practices 
  • Supervisory, Mediation and Conflict Resolution Skills
