CHIEF NURSING OFFICER (NEW ROLE)

SALARY: CI$133,128-CI$158,256 PER ANNUM

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for providing guidance on professional nursing matters to the Minister for Health & Wellness, the Chief Officer, the Chief Medical Officer, the Health Services Authority Board and other Government Departments. The role provides strategic oversight for standards of nursing education, regulation and practice across the three islands.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing appropriate partnerships and facilitating collaboration with both the private and public sectors and academic institutions
  • Providing advice and credible professional opinion on nursing and midwifery’s contribution to meeting population health goals and the development of national health plans
  • Recommends policies and initiatives to support government health objectives relating to quality, safety and best practice
  • Provides support, leadership and strategic direction to nurse leaders who work across a diverse range of care delivery systems in the territory
  • Promotes the implementation of appropriate laws regulating nursing and midwifery education, practice settings and practising professionals
  • Liaises with non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders to develop programs to improve the health and wellness of the population

 Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current licensure with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Post-graduate management qualification
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in nursing management
  • Primary Healthcare and Midwifery experience
  • Post-graduate qualifications in an area of extended/specialist nursing practice would be an advantage
