KPMG in Caricom is seeking to hire a talented, highly motivated Programmer Analyst to join our growing IT Services department.

Job Purpose:

The Programmer Analyst is part of the Caricom IT Business Solutions team and plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical applications while ensuring the delivery of IT solutions in alignment with business needs. The role requires competency in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecyle (SDLC) from requirements gathering and analysis through to design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance. The scope of the role encompasses the development of bespoke solutions as well as the customization and integration of packaged software solutions (COTS).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and understand software requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Develop detailed technical specifications and design plans for new applications and enhancements
  • Design efficient program components and functions using industry best practices
  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications
  • Perform unit and integration testing to identify and resolve issues, bugs, and bottlenecks
  • Document and track issues and corrective measures taken for future reference
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications, including troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines
  • Provide classroom and on-the-job training as appropriate to users on packaged and bespoke applications
  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation
  • Contribute to and apply strict compliance to KPMG published standards
  • Liaise with the extended ITS team locally, regionally and globally
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and innovative technologies in the world of information technology
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in software development, with a focus on building business applications

Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of coding standards and best practices
  • Knowledgeable in common programming languages, frameworks and design patterns such as Microsoft .NET, Visual Basic, C#, ASP .Net, MVC, bootstrap, jQuery, AJAX, JSON
  • Experience deploying workloads in Azure or other cloud infrastructure
  • Adept at the development and execution of test plans and debugging
  • Management and maintenance of source code within an enterprise source control system
  • Design and development of relational databases
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Authoring reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and modern visualization tools such as PowerBI
