JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent manages the implementation of all electrical infrastructure and engineering projects being undertaken at the Company’s facilities from concept to post evaluation as the subject matter expert regarding electrical engineering activities. The incumbent plans and provides guidance to Project Officers in this regard, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure an integrated design of all electrical projects.
RESPONIBILITIES
- Prepare tender documents, procurement requisitions and cost reports; participate in evaluation of tenders
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled electrical audits, recommend improvement where necessary
- Monitor the performance of contractors and consultants to ensure timely and satisfactory discharge of contractual obligations and compliance with specifications
- Perform inspections to ensure safety, reliability and integrity of electrical systems/facilities, and compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulations
- Participate in the development of technical specifications for all electrical equipment; advise if electrical specifications and drawings comply with established design methods and safety standards
- Coordinate and manage the electrical engineering activities in the execution of electrical projects undertaken by the company from design to post-evaluation
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, specialising in power/control systems
- Project management certification
- Ten (10) years related working experience, 5 at a senior engineering level
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Sound knowledge of:
- Electrical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
- Safety practices; regulations governing the use of electrical equipment in business operations
- Government Electrical Inspectorate codes, regulations, standards, and requirements
- Statutory regulations as they apply to electrical equipment
- Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- High and low voltage systems, AC/DC motors
- Contract administration
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Auto CAD, Projects
- Ability to trouble-shoot and resolve electrical faults
