The Business and Employment Centre is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Senior Accountant on behalf of its client, to provide strategic budgetary and compliance support.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the Vice President of Finance, particularly through the development and maintenance of budget planning and ensuring accurate fiscal reporting. The Senior Accountant will also take charge of monitoring cash flows and projected changes within bank-authorized limits, overseeing balance sheet control, bank reconciliations, sales documentation, and dispatch controls. Additional functions will include inventory and control management and ensuring the timely completion of external audits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the VP of Finance in developing and maintenance of budgets.
- Review business activity and accounts to support accurate and timely submission of financial statements.
- Continuous review of the budget to actual results with detailed variance analysis and revised forecast.
- Ensure adherence to strict reporting deadlines while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of month-end financial reporting.
- Recommend actions based on reviews and analysis to improve reporting and financial results.
- Continuous review of cash flows and projected changes operating within bank-authorized limits.
- Balance sheet control, accounts preparation, and maintenance
- Oversight responsibility bank reconciliations.
- Oversight of sales and deposit reconciliations.
- Oversight of sales documentation and dispatch controls
- Accounts receivables management
- Accounts payables management within suppliers’ terms
- Inventory and Control Management
- Ensure on-time completion of external Audit.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the accuracy of all financial records of all companies, by reviewing, and analyzing the reporting numbers to ensure:
- Monies received for all cash purchases.
- Authorized sales to approved credit customers.
- Sales to deposits verification.
- Proper accounting and timely processing of credit notes for goods returned and invoicing errors.
- Proper accounting for all invoice documents to ensure delivery is complete.
- Proper archiving of all accounting documents
- Proper maintenance and security of all electronic records
- Proper review and approval of fortnightly and monthly paid payroll
- Payroll claims in line with productions and sales.
- Proper support and verification of all claims for payments
- Accurate and timely financial reports (daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly / annually)
- Gross Margin movement investigations and validation
- Accurate and timely monthly inventory valuations
- Appropriate accounting treatment for all transactions
- Auditable accounts and related audit schedules.
- Ensures strict conformance to the company’s statutory obligations viz., PAYE, NIS, VAT, and TAX.
- Prepare/circulate daily bank balances.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Must be ACCA Qualified or MBA in Accounting and Finance
- Five (5) years of experience working in a high-volume environment
- Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and accounting software
- Read, analyze, and interpret procedures and statutory regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure and multitask
- Motivated, flexible and ability to use own initiative.
- Effective time management skills.
- Must possess a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Make sound decisions and use good judgement while problem solving
- Sound knowledge of local and international accounting standards.
