J. Wray & Nephew Limited’s principal operations includes the distillation of rum and other spirits; the ageing, blending, and bottling of rum; the production of wines and other alcoholic beverages and the marketing, sales, and distribution of the Company’s brands as well all non-owned brands that are represented by the Company in Jamaica. The Company owns two distilleries: New Yarmouth Estate in Clarendon and Appleton Estate in St Elizabeth. Both distilleries account for approximately two-thirds of all spirits produced in Jamaica.

 

J.Wray and Nephew invites applications for the position of Learning & Development Specialist (Contract) at our Kingston location.

 

Position Summary

This role is responsible for providing support for the administration, co-ordination and implementation of the company’s human resources policies and programmes relating to learning and talent development and performance management in keeping with the company’s objectives.

 The position scope includes all activities to meet the learning and development needs and requirements of employee at all levels of the organization in accordance with the company’s policy, business objectives and QHSE policies and standards.

 The job has been successfully performed when:

  • Training and development programmes are implemented in a timely manner to meet company objectives and compliance requirements and standards.
  • Training and development records are kept and maintained accurately at all times.
  • Training needs are identified, and activities planned to fill needs are submitted in time for annual planning.
  • All new employees are given full orientation within the first month of employment.
  • Expenditure for areas of responsibility is always maintained within the established budget.
  • Reports are prepared as required (regular and ad hoc) and circulated.
  • Full compliance with the requirements of the Company’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environment standards relating to Learning and development.
  • Responses to queries and requests are given in a professional and timely manner.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Key Activities & Responsibility

  1. Participates in the Annual Training Planning process: conducts Training Needs Analysis and assist with the preparation of training plans to fill gaps identified.
  2. Integrated approach with Learning and development solutions using employee IDP and CampUs offerings.
  3. Ensures compliance with mandatory/regulatory training requirements of the ISO Quality, Food Safety and Environment management systems.
  4. Participates fully in all internal and external audits of the QHSE management systems.
  5. Co-ordinates, schedules and arranges learning and development activities in collaboration with HoD’s; including internal, external and overseas training.
  6. Assist in the management and delivery of service to employees using the LMS
  7. Assists in providing solutions in delivering identified trainings to employee population without email access.
  8. Develops and delivers professional quality presentations and training materials to include classroom training, webinars, videos and eLearning assessment.
  9. Monitors and evaluates trainees’ progress and development by an evaluation and competency assessment process.
  10. Conducts training evaluation and effectiveness of training activities and regularly monitor and reports results to management, along with recommendations for improvement.
  11. Ensures that accurate, proper and current records are kept relating to staff training and development. Prepares monthly, annual and other required reports.
  12. Assists with coordination of the performance management process, to include talent reviews and employee personal development and Improvement plans.
  13. Processes purchase requisitions for related activities and follow up to ensure payment to service providers and expenditures are maintained within the established budget at all times
  14. Performs any other relevant duties assigned from time to time.
  15. Submit monthly Enablon reports for training hours and attendance across all sites for Quality, Health & Safety and Environment trainings
  16. Develops QFSHSE Matrix and calendar in collaboration with all HOD’s, and in particular, the Quality, Health, Environment and Safety department
  17. Uploads and assigns e-modules to the Learning Distillery and Learning Distillery Extension to staff
  18. Collaborates with One-on-One, and various SME’s in the creation e-modules for trainings and policy rollout
  19. Ensures mandatory refresher training and certification requirements are met and maintained
  20. Delivers L&D orientation to new staff and gives a walkthrough of Learning Distillery or Learning Distillery Extension

 

Authority

  • Work consists of fairly routine tasks with a few choices as to what procedures should be followed. Requires the use of some judgement in making minor decisions
  • Work is performed under light supervision with only occasional general supervision. Work proceeds based on policies and general objectives.

Experience Required

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity

 Education/Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or Management Studies or any other related discipline
  • Training/certification in adult education and/or experience required

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment with distribution and offices.
  • Working conditions involves frequent sitting, constant talking, hearing, and occasional standing. It may also involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, and/or loud noise. Incumbent will not be required to lift and carry objects.
  • The incumbent may be required to work outside normal working hours and sometimes on weekends.
  • The job includes visiting areas in the production plant that require the use of safety equipment (Personal Protective Equipment - PPE) to include but not limited to; safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety boots/shoes.
  • The job may sometimes require extended hours of standing or walking on any given work day.
  • Will require travel between all company locations (40%)
