As a Quantity Surveyor for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company, you will be responsible for managing the costs and financial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion.

Job Summary:

As a Quantity Surveyor for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company, you will be responsible for managing the costs and financial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. Your role is critical in ensuring that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to relevant regulations. You will work closely with the project team, including engineers, project managers, and procurement officers, to accurately estimate costs, monitor expenses, and provide cost-saving solutions to maximize project profitability.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation and Tendering:

  • a. Prepare accurate cost estimates for potential projects during the tendering phase.
  • b. Analyze project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine material quantities and labor requirements.
  • c. Collaborate with procurement officers to obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.

2. Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • a. Develop project budgets and cost plans in collaboration with project managers.
  • b. Monitor project costs and expenses throughout the construction phase, ensuring adherence to budget constraints.
  • c. Implement cost control measures and provide cost-saving recommendations.

3. Quantity Take-Offs:

  • a. Perform detailed quantity take-offs for construction materials, labor, and other projectrelated resources.
  • b. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quantity data.

4. Contract Management:

  • a. Assist in preparing and evaluating contracts and change orders with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • b. Review contract documents to ensure that all cost-related clauses and conditions are properly considered.

 

5. Variation and Change Management:

  • a. Assess and manage variations and changes to construction plans and costs.
  • b. Track and document changes in project scope and update cost estimates accordingly.

6. Cost Reporting and Analysis:

  • a. Prepare regular cost reports, providing insights into project expenditure and cost trends.
  • b. Conduct cost analysis and cost comparisons for different project components.

7. Payment Valuation:

  • a. Assist in preparing interim and final payment valuations for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • b. Verify the accuracy of invoices and applications for payment.

8. Risk Management:

  • a. Identify potential cost-related risks and opportunities in projects.
  • b. Collaborate with the project team to develop risk mitigation strategies.

 

Job Requirements:

•  Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the EPC or construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of quantity surveying techniques, cost estimation, and cost control.

• Familiarity with construction contracts and contract administration.

• Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools.

• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

 • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
