Incumbents of this position must maintain current knowledge of the NLCB’s credit policy, collections and recoveries systems and practices in order to effectively execute the functions.

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent is required to locate and visit with former Agents that are indebted to the NLCB, negotiate on outstanding debts and where necessary, initiate or recommend further recovery action to achieve settlement of debts in the shortest possible timeframe. The officer must be capable of motivating people to repay their outstanding debts in an expeditious manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts comprehensive searches to obtain Debtors’ contact information. Utilise a variety of sources and mechanisms including reviewing Agent files and or liaising with the Online Section for additional details. Additionally, conduct Field Visits to the Debtor’s address or place of employment.
  • Report to the Supervisor, Debt Management on a weekly basis to update on the status of all accounts worked.
  • Utilise face-to-face communication to negotiate the settlement of the debt and follow up with written correspondence, including Demand, First Warning and Lapse Payment Letters to liaise with Debtors in an attempt to bring urgent resolution to outstanding debt.
  • Negotiate settlement of debts with Debtors. This includes arranging for debt repayment or established repayment schedules, in accordance with the Credit Policy and based on the Debtors’ financial situations. It also includes anticipating and overcoming stalls/objections and recommending money sources for debt repayments.
  • Supports the litigation process as required.
  • Draft instalment contracts and facilitate signing by debtors, ensuring a copy of the Debtor’s identification is obtained. Monitor and where necessary, generate notices in relation to breaches of re-payment terms and conditions, as outlined in the Instalment Contracts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
