The SALES MANAGER is responsible for the development of and execution of all sales activities with the aim of achieving targets, maximizing sales and profitability, optimizing growth, and providing superior service to customers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The SALES MANAGER is responsible for the development of and execution of all sales activities with the aim of achieving targets, maximizing sales and profitability, optimizing growth, and providing superior service to customers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead, direct and motivates the Sales Team in achieving targets, maximizing sales, and strengthening customer relationships through coaching and training.
  • Continually assesses the ability of the Department’s personnel and recommends necessary training for continuous improvement.
  • Develop key performance indicators and track the progress of the KPI’s via the performance management system.
  • Conducts sales meetings as required, with the aim of gathering and disseminating critical information such as updates on sales achievements vs targets and company updates.
  • Ensures implementation of promotional plans are completed as per stipulated timeframes.
  • Ensures that timely action is being taken in dealing with customer complaints.
  • Conducts routine trade visits to ensure that customers’ needs are being met.
  • Liaises with Customers and potential customers to determine their objectives and prepares and executes plans to profitably meet these requirements.
  • Oversees the development of and execution of key accounts plans.
  • Develops and manages the annual sales budgets.
  • Produces sales analysis reports and other reports to drive the decision-making process.
  • Participates actively in all pricing related activities including but not limited to:

1)      Monitoring pricing to ensure maintenance of agreed margins.

2)      Conducting competitive price comparisons

3)      Making recommendations on price adjustments where necessary for the relevant personnel.

  • Keep abreast of market changes and competitive intelligence and recommend the necessary revised strategies.
  • Continuously studies the profitability, demand and potential of existing products and makes appropriate recommendations. This may include but is not limited to recommendations on products that could be profitably added to the range and products that should be discontinued.
  • Assists in the development of and procurement of product displays for the purpose of enhancing sales.
  • Review the sales activities of your direct reports.
  • Recommends new sales and merchandising strategies.
  • Participates actively in the company’s strategic planning exercises.
  • Administers HR related activities which contribute to the development of competent employees. This includes but is not limited to coaching, training, performance evaluations and taking appropriate disciplinary action, supported by the completion of the necessary forms, and as guided by HR.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Continuously seeks and capitalizes on opportunities to exceed the expectations of customers (internal and external) by placing a keen interest on understanding and effectively resolving customer-impacting issues in a professional and result-oriented manner.

POSITION PROFILE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Business Management, Marketing, or a related field of study.
  • At least (5) years’ experience in a retail environment
  • At least (3) years’ experience in a Managerial level position.
  • Substantial knowledge of food safety and handling procedures
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (i.e., including weekends and public holidays)
