JOB PURPOSE

 To collect and account for all revenue paid to the Companies Office of Jamaica and be custodian for

valuables held in vault – and disbursement of suppliers, customers and employees cheques in accordance

with the Agency’s financial policies.

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Cash receipts produced.
  • Lodgement slips produced.
  • Revenue reports -generated

 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

 

  • Timely and accurate issuance of official receipts in accordance to government financial instructions.
  • Prompt and accurate lodgments are made in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of daily/monthly reports.
  • Valuables are held safely in keeping with policy
  • Accounting policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Confidentiality and integrity are exercised.
  • Agency policies and procedures governing receipt of revenue are adhered to.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 Normal Working Hours                       Monday to Thursday                 8:30 – 5:00

                                                                     Friday                             8:30 – 4:00

 

Work Environment                               Normal office conditions.

 

 

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

 Will be required to work beyond normal working hours

Internally: Managers, Supervisors, and other internal stakeholders

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

 

  • Accepts payments from clients and issue receipts according to assessment undertaken.
  • Enters data from fee sheet into database.
  • Assorts and dispatch en-cashed documents to the relevant units.
  • Prepares lodgements for dispatch by armored security personnel.
  • Generates reports -
  • Participates in interim and annual audit exercises by providing auditors with the necessary information and support.
  • Ensures that all valuables held in the safe are secured in accordance with Agency financial policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related functions assigned from time.

JOB DIMENSION/AUTHORITY 

  • Screen cheque payments , verify identity of credit card users.
  • Issue receipts.
  • Prohibit access of unauthorised persons to secured areas.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 

  • Excellent knowledge of Agency’s policies and procedures for receipt and custody of revenue.
  • Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of computerised cash remittance system.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good communication and customer care skills.
  • Good ability to work under pressure.
  • Detail conscious.

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Four (4) GCE O’levels/CXC passes including Mathematic or Accounts and English Language
  • AAT Level 1 or equivalent qualification/training.
  • One (1) years’ related experience.
