Warehouse Team Lead

The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible and accountable for stock assigned - maintaining the inventory accuracy, picking accuracy, distribution and F.I.F.O./F.E.F.O. stock rotation.

Summary: The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible and accountable for stock assigned - maintaining the inventory accuracy, picking accuracy, distribution and F.I.F.O./F.E.F.O. stock rotation. The Team Lead must also supervise staff to ensure that the daily targets are being achieved and that, housekeeping, storage and handling operations comply with all locations requirements as well as company procedures and policies (including Quality and HSE – Health Safety and Environment).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accountable for the supervision of Warehouse Attendants/Loaders to ensure that housekeeping is maintained and that all daily operational targets are met.
• Accountable for directing the Forklift Drivers and Warehouse Attendants/Loaders to ensure that stock is properly rotated on a daily basis so that items are distributed based on F.I.F.O./F.E.F.O.
• Ensuring that stock rotation in the warehouse is being adhered to via systematic checks.
• Accountable for managing the picking process, to ensure that the right product with the correct dates (based on rotation) are being picked.
• Responsible for the verification of goods picked as per each respective invoice, prior to loading for delivery.
• Management of the process of loading trucks for dispatch, to minimize losses and inaccuracies.
• Ensuring that all stock assigned in warehouse is prepared for stocktaking activities (i.e., all items in proper locations etc.).
• Responsible for suggesting improvements to the inventory and inventory control procedures and items that affect accuracy and reliability, and ensuring these procedures are maintained and enforced.
• Participating in the Inventory count process - End of Month Counts, End of year counts, Cycle counts and Re Counts.
• Meeting assigned KPI’s for Inventory accuracy. All items with variance over the identified amount must be explained in writing and resolved. Also, maintain a net variance.
• Ensuring that expired stock is recorded and segregated, to avoid the contamination of good stock.
• Reduce or prevent any losses that occur due to spoilage or shrinkage.
• Conducting investigations as necessary for shortages and overages as well as Investigating inventory errors.
• Ensuring that containers are offloaded and that the goods are broken down, tagged and slotted accurately and timely to avoid demurrage charges.
• Generating Goods Received Notes (GRN) accurately.
• Ensuring that Quality (e.g., temperature checks) and HSE – (Health Safety and Environment) requirements are met and maintained.
• To ensure that containers are offloaded with 24 hours of arrival on the compound and Zero demurrage for assigned area.
• Performance of other related duties, as required.

Key Skills and Requirements

• 5 O Levels or equivalent
• Tertiary diploma is an asset
• Experience working with (MS Office), ERP and Warehouse Management Systems.
• A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in a medium sized retail company or experience in warehouse management, inventory management or any aspect of supply chain management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong skills in excel and word
• Experience with SAP, MS Great Plains or similar technologies.
