DEPUTY DIRECTOR - LITIGATION
Public Prosecutions
Salary: PS46 $179,714 (=US$ Equivalent)
The post is responsible for the management of the Litigation programme, which involves supervising a team, and for the conduct of criminal proceedings under the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The post prosecutes the more complex cases in the Courts, conducts Criminal prosecutions in all the Courts of Bermuda and provides advice to the Police, Ministries and other Departments on criminal matters.
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of ten years relevant post-qualification experience, at a senior level, in prosecuting significant criminal litigation as lead or sole counsel at all levels of Court, in courts of unlimited jurisdiction with a substantial portion as a prosecutor in a government legal environment, with five years senior management experience managing a team of prosecutors and administrators, preferably in a government environment, along with an extensive knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system. A practicing qualified Barrister or Attorney at Law of a Commonwealth Jurisdiction, and capability of being called to the Bermuda Bar is required.
