Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician will play a vital role in supporting the Project Manager across various projects. The Engineering Technician will also collaborate with suppliers and contractors, offering onsite supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-        Provide comprehensive support to the Project Manager during tendering and project execution.

-        Assist in data entry, project tracking, and preparation of progress reports to monitor and communicate project status effectively.

-        Collaborate with suppliers and contractors, offering onsite supervision in coordination with the assigned supervisor.

-        Ensure that project works are executed precisely according to client specifications.

-        Assist in procurement activities to acquire materials required for various projects.

-        Contribute to the preparation of tenders and cost estimations.

-        Assist in generating standard project documentation.

-        Adhere to and enforce strict safety procedures.

-        Proactively identify technical problems and propose effective solutions.

-        Continuously seek opportunities for enhancing project performance and efficiency.

-        Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

-        Department: Projects

-        Reports To: Project Manager

-        Liaisons: Supervisors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

-        Engineer Technician Diploma or Higher National Diploma.

-        Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar field.

-        Any other relevant and equivalent combination of experience and education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

-        Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of individuals.

-        Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts relevant to the specific field is necessary.

-        Technical Skills: Proficiency in using engineering software, computer-aided design (CAD) software, and other technical tools is typically expected. Familiarity with industry-standard equipment, instruments, and testing procedures may also be required.

-        Problem-Solving Skills - identifying and troubleshooting technical problems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to diagnose issues, identify solutions, and make recommendations for improvement.

-        Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy are critical in engineering. Engineering technicians must be detail-oriented to ensure plans, specifications, and measurements are correct.

-        Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

-        Initiative: Proactively and constructively addresses issues and tasks without direct instruction. Actively minimizes problems, resolves challenges, and meets deadlines. Voluntarily presents innovative ideas with supporting data.

-        Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work efficiently within role boundaries, and take initiative when needed.

-        Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the capability to plan, organize, and implement effective systems of operation.

-        Proficiency in preparing comprehensive reports.

-        Knowledge of building and construction principles.

-        Proficient in Mathematics, Information Technology, and design.

-        Sound knowledge in Engineering Science and Technology.

-        Proficiency in ACAD, MS Project and MS Office suite
