Contributes to ensuring and helping to enhance the profitability of the Company's Convenience stores.

Contributes to ensuring and helping to enhance the profitability of the Company's Convenience stores, through identification and evaluation of new products and analysis of existing product performance, enabling decisions regarding category, product mix and active promotion of products, facilitating the adequacy of product supply and supporting loss prevention practices.  The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data in the Retail Inventory System.  He/she also manages the vendor relationship with suppliers of products for the Convenience Stores, performing the main liaison role on all supply related matters.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To support the Line Manager in optimising the assigned category offerings, mitigate risks and develop a suitable product mix to ensure profitability of the Retail operation.
  • To ensure the comprehensive planogram process (PP’s) for respective categories and seasonal to ensure they are completed timely and accurate.
  • To identify and implement promotional campaigns in correlation to the respective categories with the support of Retail Store Managers and respective line Manager.
  • To ensure the relevance and integrity of the data in the Retail Pricebook and Retail Inventory System. 
  • To manage the relationship with Vendors of goods for the Convenience Stores, being the primary liaison, negotiating and entering into contractual arrangements, and dealing with all supply and quality matters.
  • To ensure compliance with the Company's Procurement standards, policies and procedures in Vendor transactions.
  • To ensure the adequacy of the supply of goods to the Warehouses.
  • To monitor, recommend and implement appropriate initiatives in support of loss prevention in the Convenience Stores.
  • To support with the implementation of various projects and plans to enhance the category performance of the business.

 

HSE Responsibilities

  • Comply with and support the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and programs and any other applicable legislation and standards.
  • Recognize and understand the health and safety risk associated with assigned job tasks.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that promotes good health and hygiene, no harm to the environment, and no injury to self or risk to others.
  • Stop work if any work-related safety incident is imminent or occurs, in a manner compliant with Company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Wear and maintain PPE as required and in the manner prescribed.
  • Attend HSE training as required by the Company.
  • Assess expiries and damages to trade assets and ensure disposal is done in accordance with the company’s policy and procedure.
  • Report all HSE related incidents according to Company procedures and assist in incident investigations, as necessary.
  • Comply with scheduled or random drug and alcohol testing according to Company’s policy.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent.
  • Retail management experience will be an asset.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the retail industry in price book, merchandising, operations or a related field.
  • A general understanding of accounting processes and procedures will be an asset.
  • Computer literate, with competence in the Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Knowledge of the Verifone Point of Sale systems and PDI Envoy or a similar Price book Platform will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, e.g. Maximo, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Sage, etc., will be an asset.
