He/She must have the ability to deal directly with Brokers and customers be empowered to act on The Beacon’s behalf, to bind cover up to a specified amount,provide quotes, manage claims and receivables, deal with customer service issues and engage in marketing of Beacon’s services.

Key Responsibilities

Brief Description of Duties

Underwriting

  • To develop business through development of relationships and the Marketing of Beacon’s Products across all customer of the Unit as assigned-:
  • Provide timely quotations for all classes of business to Brokers and customers in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Bind Coverage for quotations provided and accept New Business for all classes of insurance in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Provide immediate Proof of Cover as may be required.
  • To Provide technical advice to Brokers and customers when necessary
  • To deliver all Policy and other Documents to Brokers and customers as required
  • To conduct risk surveys as required
  • To manage the collection of premiums (receivables) for all business (new and existing) for which you are respondsible.
  • Continuously ensure compliance with all The Beacon’s guidelines, manuals, corporate policies and SOPs.

Business Development/Revenue Generation

  • Consistently identify new opportunities for cross -selling and up-selling the company’s products across the Broker Unit.
  • To assist in the formulation, development and implementation of special projects
  • To assist BDUs, Supervisor and Senior Management with effectively growing Beacon’s book of business
  • Develop Business through improvement of relationships with Brokers and customers.
  •  To assist with unallocated accounting queries and billing queries.

Reporting

  • Prepare monthly scorecard for Brokers and customers of the Unit.

Customer Service

  • Timely response to all Unit queries and requests.
  • Handle queries that arise from customers concerning their accounts
  • To provide technical advice to Brokers and customers and Underwriters when necessary.

Assist Claims within the Unit

  • Receive claim forms
  • Determine coverage or absence thereof
  • Provide briefs to the claims department on the claimant and the respective risk(s).

Administration

  • Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all entries made on The Beacon’s core operating system.
  • Effectively manage assigned Broker folders on the system.
  • Prepare No Claims Letters as required.

 

Team Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert for relevant learning and development programmes
  • Create and conduct learning and development programmes and evaluations for assigned team members
  • Complete any job related function that is relevant to the Sales and Business Development Unit
