The Accounts Supervisor - Operations Accounting will assist the Financial Accountant in providing timely, complete, and accurate operational and financial information on the performance of GraceKennedy (T&T) Limited’s sub-agents network, with particular emphasis on effective Cash Management.

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR – OPERATIONS ACCOUNTING

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the ideal candidate will:

Assists the Financial Accountant in providing timely, complete, and accurate operational and financial information on the performance of GraceKennedy (T&T) Limited’s sub-agents network, with particular emphasis on effective Cash Management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                       

  • Effective design and execution of cash management strategies for GKTT sub-agents daily operations, including the timely, complete, and accurate deposits of funds due to GKTT, and the appropriate accounting entries relating to the opening and closing of an agent.
  • Effective supervision of the timely, complete, and accurate daily sub-agent reimbursement process and the preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations for GKTT sub-agent activities on a weekly basis.
  • Review and approve monthly reconciliations for accounts ensuring accuracy and ensuring that all reconciling items are appropriately resolved within the stipulated deadlines.
  • Resolving satisfactorily any and all queries from all sub-agent, customers, banks, and suppliers, within 2 days of query.
  • Timely and accurately execution of monthly and quarterly cash count reports to be dispatched to management within 6 days of the cash being counted. Also ensuring that variances are thoroughly investigated, and agents are informed in a timely manner of shortages that are to be deducted.  
  • Assist with the preparation of the Financial Reports for presentation to the Board Meetings.
  • Coordinate activities for the General Ledger including the processing of journal entries, reconciliations, and other duties.
  • Assumes ownership of the year-end audit process, by proactively managing timelines and ensuring the prompt preparation of Audit Schedules to support a smooth and successful audit outcome.
  • Manage the year-end audit process ensuring the timely preparation of Audit Schedules.
  • Conduct thorough evaluation of all processes executed by direct reports, identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency, and implement and communicate innovative processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide strong leadership in managing the team's performance, emphasizing timely completion of deliverables, and maintaining high-quality standards, to achieve desired outcomes effectively.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Financial Accountant deemed necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Department.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance and/or pursuing ACCA Level 111
  • Seven (7) or more years in Accounting and Finance with at least three (3) years at a supervisory level.
  • Familiarity with using computer-based accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team to successfully achieve KPIs and other deliverables.
  • Demonstrable Advance Excel application skills
  • Strong technical skills and analytical ability
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Adaptability to changing accounting and audit environments and requirements.
