What’s the opportunity?

The JN Group is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Securities Supervisor in the Securities Unit of the Legal Department. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining safe custody of all security documents for loans granted by JN Bank; ensures that members of staff in the Securities Unit are properly trained, made aware of and understand their daily functions and conduct periodic follow-ups with staff to ensure that they are complying and meeting the company’s established standards.

  • Assist with coordination of activities in the Securities Unit by liaising with attorneys, mortgagors, other external parties and staff members regarding matters pertaining to the Securities Unit.
  • Receive all in-coming correspondence and assigns same to respective staff based on the subject matter to ensure that there is timely response where applicable and that matters are dealt with efficiently in keeping with Legal Department's standards.
  • Review and sign applicable documents completed by Direct Reports including Discharges of Mortgages, Releases of Assignment Supplemental Deeds, Letters and memos, ensuring accuracy.
  • Interface with external stakeholders regarding matters that impact operations in the Securities Unit.
  • Maintain safe custody of all security documents for loans granted by the Bank, including Titles and Mortgage Deeds and ensures that the said documents are received for safe keeping.
  • Supervise the in-house stamping of collateral documents for JN Bank Small Business Loans and reconcile the Stamp Duties payable to Tax Administration Jamaica.
  • Undertake the relevant activities to ensure all Titles for Motor Vehicles pledged to JN BANK as collateral are retrieved from the various Tax Offices across the island.
  • In consultation with Assistant Securities Manager, develop training programmes for Direct Reports to be conducted on a quarterly basis.
  • Perform other duties assigned to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of the Securities Unit

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Must have 5 or more years of experience gained in the Bank’s Mortgage operations.
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s Small Business Loans operations would be a plus.
