Manager - Infrastructure Systems

The incumbent will be required to leverage their expertise with various platforms/systems; to budget, plan and execute IT Infrastructure projects to ensure that system design, provisioning, maintenance and performance is consistent with company goals, and industry best practices.

POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

This role is responsible for the leadership of the Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure team. The incumbent will be required to leverage their expertise with various platforms/systems; to budget, plan and execute IT Infrastructure projects to ensure that system design, provisioning, maintenance and performance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. 

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES 

1. Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
2. Management Training or Certification
3. Training or Certification in Supervisory Management or its Equivalent
4. Training or Certification in Data and Data Warehouse Management
5. Excellent human relations, interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Minimum of five (5) years supervisory/managerial experience. 

EXPERIENCE/LEARNED DISCIPLINES 

1. At least 5 years’ experience managing various hybrid platform solutions: On-premise, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS etc.
2. Experience managing and integrating hardware platforms in a secured environment
3. Experience in the designing, development, and implementation of infrastructure solutions on the following platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu, Citrix and IBM.
4. Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies.
5. Knowledge of network, firewall and VPN technologies.
6. Training in Cloud Technologies: AWS, Google, Microsoft Azure.
7. Knowledge of Hyper Converged Infrastructure and other Hypervisor Technologies.
8. Experience working with Kubernetes Clusters, Containers, Infrastructure as a Code and Automation Tools a distinct advantage.
9. Experience with CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Delivery) and DevOps methodologies.
10. AWS Cloud certification would be an asset 

MAJOR TASKS/DUTIES

1. Manage major infrastructure projects across the company.
2. Working with networking infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, VPN, etc.
3. Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure IT Infrastructure security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
4. Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end users regarding IT infrastructure availability and security including file system and database configuration and management.
5. Lead and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for IT infrastructure to ensure reduction of OPEX spend while supporting the growth of the organization.
6. Assist with cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
7. Drive and enforce Change Management policies/procedures to ensure effectiveness and integrity of all server environments.
8. Ensure successful and timely daily backups and retention for relevant services and applications.
9. Remediating Audit exceptions.
10. Identify opportunities for and driving continuous process improvements within team.
11. Manage team leads and members, allocate their work and aid in decisions regarding performance appraisal and training and development.
12. Oversees the application of patches within the IT Infrastructure department.
13. Liaise with other team members to assist with IT wide projects.
14. Implement solutions to improve efficiency of the IT infrastructure department with automation.
