JOB SUMMARY

The Export Sales Manager oversees our export operations, develops sales strategies, and cultivates relationships with international clients. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying new market opportunities, managing non-local key accounts, coordinating logistics, and managing the end-to-end sales and marketing process.

JOB DUTIES

Sales and Customer Acquisition:

  • Conceptualize and oversee implementation of all business strategies and tactics to achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand market share and increase sales revenue.
  • Identify and prioritize target markets and develop effective market entry strategies.
  • Implement growth strategies and solutions to support volume, revenue, market share and profitability.
  • Maintain and increase brand awareness in the market, design programs to increase brand availability for specific consumer occasions, consult and implement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a network of potential clients, agents, and distributors to promote the company's products and services.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential export markets and evaluate market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's customer base and market reach.
  • Monitor pricing trends, competitor activities, and currency fluctuations to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective promotional campaigns, sales materials, and product presentations.

Account Management:

  • Manage key export accounts and build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with international customers, distributors, and partners.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, requirements, and preferences to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient order processing, 100% OTIF fulfilment rates, and exceptional customer service.
  • Analyse pricing structures, market dynamics, and customer requirements to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with international customers to ensure mutually beneficial agreements. 

Logistics and Supply Chain Management:

  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate order processing, shipping, and delivery of products to international customers.
  • Work closely with supply chain and operations teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and manage product availability.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, export documentation, and customs requirements.

 Business Analytics & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct routine and ad hoc analyses, reviews and reports of the brand revenues, competitive, category, customer and consumer trends to enhance the brand’s equity and marketplace performance. Create gap analysis, propose and execute corrective time-bound action plans.
  • Sales report generation and analysis:
    • sales projection and forecasting
    • trade marketing budget development and tracking
    • Performance reports, sales penetration
    • Customer penetration analysis and channel tracking
    • Identify top customer declines in channel vs prior year and develop action plans.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Marketing or Management
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience within an FMCG environment
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Senior/Supervisory role

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong statistical, analytical and business intelligence reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to plan well and multitask.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
