The main purpose of the AML Compliance Analyst is to manage and remediate alerts in the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring system.

JOB PURPOSE

The main purpose of the AML Compliance Analyst is to manage and remediate alerts in the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring system. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting investigations and analysis on customers and their transactions as well as liaising with stakeholders within the NCB Group in order to obtain required information and documentation for specific customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Manage alerts in the AML monitoring system.
    Analyze data provided by the AML system to detect potential suspicious activities and initiate appropriate actions.
    Identify, monitor and investigate unusual activities/transactions and determine when these activities are to be escalated to the Compliance Officer and/or a Manager in the Compliance team, and so escalate them as appropriate.
    Liaise with all relevant stakeholders within the NCB Group in order to obtain required information and/or documentation for specified customers.
    Follow up on requests for information and documentation required for the completion of analysis and the proper completion of regulatory reports in accordance with applicable legislation and regulatory directives.
    Escalate outstanding matters or matters warranting urgent attention within the Compliance team in accordance with standard procedures.
    Assist with the implementation of mechanisms for testing.
    Carry out KYC policy checks (Monthly).
    Assist with risk assessments of implemented products/channels quarterly.
    Ensure breaches are resolved.
    Assist with UAT
    Prepare regulatory reports and attendant forms for submission to the Designated Authority whilst ensuring that filings are completed accurately and within the required time.
    Assist with the dispatch and/or delivery of regulatory reports, pursuant to the applicable legislation and regulatory directives, to the Designated Authority.
    Prepare correspondence to internal (branches and subsidiaries) and external stakeholders (including the Designated Authority) as required.
    General filing includes ensuring that a proper filing system is maintained for source documents used to prepare regulatory reports.
    Assist with special projects and any other matter assigned by the Compliance Officer or any Manager of the Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

    Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a similar field.
    A certification or diploma in compliance or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the area of compliance.
    Sound knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements under the Proceeds of Crime Act, 2007, the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2005, and their attendant regulations.
