Software Developer l

Salary Range: CI$62,508 - CI$78,012

                            (US$74,414 - US$92,871)

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer l to join the Cayman Islands Government and become a vital member of a highly collaborative team “To make the lives of those we serve better”. The Software Developer l will be a member of the Computer Services Department’s Development Team. The Computer Services Software Developer l will envision, design, develop, maintain and support innovative custom application systems and websites that provide secure, user friendly and efficient solutions for the delivery and management of government services offered to all government entities and the public.

 

Qualifications: The post-holder must possess:

• An IT related Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years post-graduate experience; OR

• An IT related Associates degree plus a minimum of eight (8) years post-graduate experience.

 

Preferred degrees are in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Management Information Systems. All of the above experience must be in software development, or related IT fields. Any proven high-level performance or industry certifications will also be recognized and considered as relevant experience.

 

Knowledge Skills & Exeperience:

With Oracle being the primary technology used; knowledge and experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX) and Oracle Content Management (formally Content and Experience Cloud (OCE)) are important for the role, however experience is also valued in:

  • Web Design/Development Tools
  • Oracle APEX
  • Web Services Development (REST, SOAP)
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, AJAX, Python
  • Oracle SQL+ and PL/SQL, Oracle SQL Developer
  • Oracle BI Publisher, APEX Office Print
  • Application Lifecycle Management / Agile DevTools (JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Business Analysis and Data Modelling
  • User Support and IT Training
  • Oracle ADF, JDeveloper, Java, Java EE
  • Oracle Business Intelligence
  • Version Control (GIT, Subversion, Source Safe, etc.)

As a member of the Development Group, the post-holder must be mature, experienced, self-disciplined and a capable application developer who is fully accountable for work quality. Must have above average inter-personal skills and experience dealing with clients/users, along with the ability for a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving. The post-holder is also required to be familiar with the software development life cycle and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems.

The post includes excellent benefits as determined by the Public Service Management Act and Regulations (2018 Revision), the Public Service Pensions Law (2017 Revision) and the CINICO Health Plan. This currently includes 25 days paid vacation, 11 public holidays, 12% employer paid pension and comprehensive health insurance.
