The Bahamas Striping Group of Companies is seeking a full-time, qualified Quantity Surveyor who will be primarily responsible for managing all costs related to our construction projects. This includes controlling costs, ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget, and ensuring quality standards are met..

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the optimal cost.
  • Preparation of tender and contract documents for capital works projects
  • Supervision of the tender process inclusive of bid analysis
  • Contract administration inclusive of inspections, measurement of contract works, preparation of payment certificates, Engineer’s Instructions, Change Orders, etc.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other documents.
  • Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
  • Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
  • Reports to General Manager.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

 

CORE COMPETENCIES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & ATTRIBUTES: 

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.
  • The applicant must be a Corporate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or holder of equivalent professional qualifications.  Registration with the legally enacted regulating authority for Quantity Surveyors in the United States, Canada, or CARICOM countries is considered equivalent.
  • Five (5) years post professional qualification experience
  • Excellent Communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Construction estimating or finance experience is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Sound knowledge of construction.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
  • Great networking abilities.
