Background:

Profiles Caribbean Inc. is seeking to recruit an Agency Manager for the Barbados Operations of a leading shipping company that offers global shipping agency services. The Agency Manager will supervise and coordinate all aspects of company’s office and operations In Barbados. He/she will work with agents and clients to ensure that targets are met, relevant policies and guidelines are upheld, and customer satisfaction and revenue targets are achieved.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support company operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff.
  • Ensure principal requests are met both operationally and administratively.
  • Maintain office services by organizing office operations and procedures ensure filing of payroll taxes and statutory deductions, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and assigning and monitoring clerical functions.
  • Provide historical reference by defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.
  • Maintain office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.
  • Design and implement office policies by establishing standards and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Keep management informed by reviewing and analysing special reports, summarizing information and identifying trends.
  • Maintain office staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain office staff job results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees, and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field and/or relevant work experience in the shipping industry.
  • Experience in an administrative role.
  • Knowledge of administrative software packages.
  • Good interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Reliability, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Previous office-based, secretarial, or customer-facing work experience is essential.
