Industrial Medical Gases Business Manager

Our client, IGL Limited has operated in Jamaica for six decades as the lead distributor of cooking gas under the IGL brand. It’s also in the business of medical gases. IGL is now a member of The Massy Group which has been in operation since 1923 and has businesses throughout the Caribbean basin, as well as in Colombia and South Florida. IGL is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the role of Industrial Medical Gases (IMG) Business Manager.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the IMG Business Manager is responsible for optimizing IMG Point of Sales, sales support, product costs and ensuring excellent customer service outcomes. The position also has P&L accountability for IMG business and facilitates team success and efficiency of operations. Additionally, the IMG Business Manager has key accountability for developing, implementing, and driving transformational activities geared toward building the IMG business function into a successful stand-alone business entity. The ideal candidate will also liaise with the Commercial Manager to cement key business relationships against encroachment and will implement business development strategies to facilitate product expansion and brand enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures monthly Sales and Collections targets are achieved and identifies the reasons for any variances.
  • Conducts monthly in-depth variance analyses and determines root cause(s) for gaps between actual and desired performance outcomes.
  • Ensures customer-owned cylinders are properly managed, while ensuring adherence to a robust system of accepting, tracking and releasing cylinders back to customers.
  • Attains and grows margins of all IMG products and services.
  • Ensures IMG POS is well organized to secure proper inventory management and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Maintains and enhances customer relationships by visiting top customers as defined by revenue.
  • Strategizes with the Commercial Manager on IGLs value proposition for all its products vs the competition and prepares recommendations for Managing Director’s approval.
  • Constantly assesses IMG performance metrics against available data and actively pursues plans to improve IGLs performance; this to include benchmarking visits.
  • Manages the departments Performance Management System in line with company objectives, and tracks and reports adherence to established Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensures maintenance of proper procedures in conjunction with Loss Prevention & QHSE and ensures a policy of vigilance and proactive control is in place and practiced to secure company assets and to maintain safety standards.
  • Ensures teams are properly trained and equipped to perform duties effectively and ensures team compliance with all safety and quality measures, targets and policies.

 Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related discipline (Diploma in Sales/ Marketing would be an asset)
  • Five years working experience with a proven track record in Sales/ Management/ Logistics.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Well - developed communication and facilitative skills.
  • Proficiency in report writing and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Sound business acumen.
