Our client, IGL Limited has operated in Jamaica for six decades as the lead distributor of cooking gas under the IGL brand. It’s also in the business of medical gases. IGL is now a member of The Massy Group which has been in operation since 1923 and has businesses throughout the Caribbean basin, as well as in Colombia and South Florida.

IGL is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the role of Operations Engineer.

Job Summary:

The Operations Engineer provides technical and operational support to the various divisions within the company and maintains the necessary controls, procedures, and systems for the efficient operation of the business unit. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely and efficient upkeep of the IGL owned facilities, including compliance with established industry standards. Additionally, the Operations Engineer will conduct companywide projects to ensure improvements in productivity, accuracy, and sustainability. The job holder will also oversee major non-routine and complex assignments. Critically, the role of the Operations Engineer will include developing preventative and planned maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and disruptions to the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, oversee and document the preventative and planned maintenance activities.
• Conduct improvement projects in compliance with NFPA58 and Health, Safety and
• Environmental (HSE) standards and company policies.
• Coordinate the maintenance technical teams during routine and non-routine assignments.
• Assist with the implementation of operating procedures to ensure that cylinders for all
• IGL filling plants (both company owned and franchised) are accounted for and monitor
• the system to ensure proper functioning.
• Ensure all IGL filling plants comply with the Bureau of Standards regulations in
• order to gain the necessary approvals.
• Ensures that all plants meet the factory inspectorate requirements and are certified and comply with JS31 standard.  

 Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

• BSc. in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• Five (5) years related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with meter calibration and repairs.
• Strong project management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
