Business Development Manager

Our client, IGL Limited has operated in Jamaica for six decades as the lead distributor of cooking gas under the IGL brand. It’s also in the business of medical gases. IGL is now a member of The Massy Group which has been in operation since 1923 and has businesses throughout the Caribbean basin, as well as in Colombia and South Florida. IGL is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the role of Business Development Manager.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Business Development Manager leads the development of strategies to expand the business with particular emphasis on new opportunities in the IMG/LPG/LNG business segments in both local and foreign markets, to enhance financial and sales gains, customer satisfaction and brand recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaises with the Finance team to develop business cases/models for projects, project evaluations and presentation to the Board for consideration and approval.
  • Pursues all sales leads and provides accurate and competitive quotations as per department standards.
  • Consults with the Service & Installation and Maintenance Departments to co-ordinate installations and maintenance and provides oversight on same to ensure customer expectations are met and/or surpassed.
  • Ensures that contracts are prepared and signed and liaises with the Sales Coordinator/ Administrative Assistant to ensure they are finalized and dispatched as per department standards.
  • Carries out periodic checks on customers premises to ensure that safety standards are being adhered to, and immediately reports any breaches to the QHS&E Officer/ Operations Department so that corrective action can be taken.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in various market segments e.g. the hotel industry, fast food restaurants, manufacturers, bakeries etc.
  • Keeps abreast of market conditions and competitor’s activities related to pricing, promotions, special offers etc. and provides monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Commercial Manager to assist with analyses and decision –making.
  • Updates project tracking mechanism (e.g. SPANCO) to facilitate project visibility from prospecting to product delivery.
  • Ensures all work activities are aligned with, and supports the attainment of QHSE Company and Department targets.

 Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

 

  • BSc. in Engineering (Diploma in Sales / Marketing would be an asset)
  • Five (5) years related experience, with at least three years experience in sales
  • Excellent customer care and contact skills
  • Well - developed communication and facilitative skills.
  • Budgeting and price management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Report writing, and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
