The Manager, Corporate Credit Risk supports the Bank’s credit risk management function in meeting clients’ expectations for customer service while ensuring sound risk management is undertaken.

 
Purpose of the Role:
The Manager, Corporate Credit Risk supports the Bank’s credit risk management function in meeting clients’ expectations for customer service while ensuring sound risk management is undertaken. The incumbent assesses corporate credit and maybe required to visit corporate teams across the region to assess the quality of portfolios. The Manager provides support, guidance and advice to front line Corporate Managers on specific proposals, lending situations and any credit risk matters, in accordance with the Bank’s established risk appetite and credit lending policies, as well as the regulatory guidelines applicable to the various jurisdictions in which the Bank operates.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Approves assigned or referred credit applications within the graded lending matrix and delegated authority up to the associated DLA. 
  • Recommends for approval credit applications that exceed delegated authority to the Director, Corporate Credit Risk, the Chief Credit Officer and / or the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Assists with the achievement of asset quality targets for the corporate lending portfolio by ensuring adherence to the Bank’s credit risk policies, guidelines and procedures and decision support tools.
  • Delivers high quality risk decisions within service level agreements. 
  • Proactively manages and monitors client trends to recommend / invoke the appropriate remediation action.
  • Identifies and escalates to the Director, Corporate Credit Risk and / or the Chief Credit Officer any instances of non-compliance with lending authorities, credit risk policy, guidelines and procedures or other governance mandates.
  • As required, visits corporate teams across the region, providing support and guidance to front line Corporate Managers on proposals and any credit matters.
  • Facilitates as required the successful amendment and implementation of risk related policies, processes and guidelines, risk management tools, models and systems.
  • Liaises with fellow corporate credit risk team members to share information on credit matters.
  • Supports the remediation of deficiencies relating to credit policies, procedures and guidelines and systems.

Critical Knowledge Required:
  • Professional qualification - ACIB or equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business management, finance, banking or related field.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Full competency in all aspects of credit analysis and thorough knowledge of Bank credit risk policy, guidelines & procedures including regulatory body requirements.
  • Thorough, hands on knowledge of use and function of all corporate credit decision support tools.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate structures and security considerations.
  • Complete knowledge of corporate market credit and counter party transaction risks.
  • Detailed knowledge of all corporate credit products.
  • Knowledge of economic and political environments and the financial services industry in all markets served.
  • Excellent market & industry knowledge.

Experience Required:
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a banking environment.
  • Prior credit structuring and negotiation experience.\Prior experience as an adjudicator of Corporate Credit transactions is preferred.
