Director of Sales & Marketing

Reports to: VP Operations

 

Position Summary

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for leading sales and marketing program for Margaritaville Caribbean Group. Oversee and directs the sales and marketing team and works closely with venue management to ensure that programs are well executed. This position also requires that you know the philosophy and history of Margaritaville Caribbean Group, learn the History of all our brands and also to learn and apply the philosophy of Margaritaville: Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision and Core Values.

                          

 

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for driving sales volume thru surrounding resorts, cruise ships, tour operators, destination management companies (DMCs) and local business.
  • Responsible for maximizing revenue and occupancy of all properties by developing the most effective rates and strategies.
  • Manage group performance, traffic and profitability for all property profit centers.
  • Motivate and ensure that managers and sales representatives apply the pricing strategies daily.
  • Strategize with the marketing team to find most effective positioning for their current and future sales campaigns and implement accordingly.
  • Develop and implement rates and strategies to increase revenue and remain competitive.
  • Daily communication and strategizing with management team to maximize revenue and adjust strategy as required.
  • Direct and coordinate company sales and marketing events.
  • Develop and coordinate sales selling cycle and methodology.
  • Direct and oversee the company marketing function to identify and develop new guests for products and services.
  • Research and develop strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project development.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
  • Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets, and oversee the development and management of internal operating budgets.
  • Plan and coordinate public affairs, and communications efforts, to include public relations and community outreach.
  • Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts, and coordinate the management of all other accounts.
  • Supervise the planning and development of company marketing and communications materials.
  • Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
  • Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.
  • Recommend and administer sales and marketing strategies  and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by  Executive Team.

  • Experience in  sales, revenue management , strategic marketing, budgeting,  research,  related information systems, and general business administration
  • Excellent understanding of food & beverage theme operations
  • Excellent understanding of the Caribbean business acumen.
  • Strong analytical ability to manage historical demand, regional & seasonal competitive influences by property and market
  • Ability to revise pricing recommendations anytime as new information becomes available.
  • Proficiency in performing analysis quickly and delivering optimized daily rate recommendations for a portfolio of all properties and their guest segments that extend out for future growth.
  • Ability to think creative, sell and implement ideas and changes to/with team members.
  • Talent in leading and motivating across departments and properties to a high level of sales .
  • Ability to collaborate with GMs to achieve established sales targets .
  • Proficient with current technology / marketing strategies

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing a department; and supervising the use of funds
  • Gather relevant industry information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Attend monthly management meeting and provide monthly departmental reports.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and/or weekends
  • Perform a biweekly department meeting updates/progress on strategic marketing projects.    
  • Flexibility is required to independently work with other departments in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing using a variety of standardized methods.
  • Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment.
  • Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
  • Able and willing to travel

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, Business Management and/ or a minimum of 5-10 years  sales and marketing experience for a large theme property
  • Relevant Qualifications/ certifications will be an asset
