Analyst - Internal Audit

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an integrated financial services regulator. The FSC has an immediate opening for the position of Analyst, Internal Audit (Contract)

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Analyst, the Analyst is responsible for assisting with the independent review and assessment of the effectiveness and quality of the policies and procedures within the Financial Services Commission (FSC). He/she executes a review program to provide a qualitative assessment of the range of risks (e.g. operational, strategic, financial), to which the FSC is exposed.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Evaluating the adequacy of process design and the effectiveness of controls in meeting business and control objectives.
  • Identify and document control and process weaknesses and provide evidential support for findings
  • Propose practical and value added recommendations to address control weaknesses and or process inefficiencies.
  • Review and analyse functional structures, policies, processes and services provided in the context of prudent practices and regulatory/legislative requirements.
  • Ascertaining the extent of compliance with the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act, relevant laws and regulations, established internal controls, policies, procedures, circulars and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Finance and Public Service.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed corrective actions and risk mitigation activities.
  • Ascertaining the extent to which the company’s assets are accounted for and safeguarded from losses of any kind.
  • Determining whether specific projects or programmes were carried out economically, efficiently and effectively.
  • Assisting with the verification of reported performance results of the FSC relative to its corporate strategic initiatives and the operational activities of its respective divisions and departments.
  • Contribute to the planning, organisation and execution of public education/training initiatives conducted by the division for both internal and external stakeholders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Degree in Finance, Business Administration and Economics or the equivalent Professional Certification in disciplines such as: Accounting, Finance and Auditing.
  • The job requires at least 3 years’ relevant work experience in a comparable position and business
  • Working knowledge of professional IIA performance standards
