The role:

We seek a permanent Engineering Manager who is trustworthy and proactive with many years of engineering experience and proven leadership skills. The applicant can expect to work on many projects simultaneously, build and manage a team of engineers, formulate, and execute strategies, and coordinate with other managers. The applicant researches and develops modern designs and products, proposes budgets for projects, and oversees all the activities related to the section.

 

The successful Engineering Manager should be results driven and have exceptional foresight. Ideally, the candidate will have proof of her/his supervisory and technical skills and an appreciation for the complex nature of the industry.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Providing technical expertise and leading technical delivery on a wide variety of projects, including infrastructure provision, technical assistance, evaluation & verification, and asset management.
  • Managing projects and supporting project tasks to ensure delivery to the lofty standards expected by PWC (Provo Water Company).
  • Working with other team members to deliver the water strategy and capability and the overall Engineering Strategy.
  • Hiring contractors and building and supervising the work of multiple teams.
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering teams.
  • Researching and developing designs and products.
  • Determining the need for training and talent development.
  • Ensuring products have the support of upper management.
  • Organizes work activities within the engineering department and delegate task among engineering staff in accordance with the level of importance and priorities as required in the distribution and maintenance.
  • Transacts and negotiates with consulting engineers, government departments, other utilities, contractors, and suppliers on works required by the company.
  • Development and maintenance of standards and practices for water installation and engineering practices within the company.
  • Designing of overall water distribution schemes and associated structures such as pumping stations, pipe works and earthworks where necessary.
  • Implements strategies to achieve Non-Revenue Water targets set by the company.
  • Carry out and implement all other activities for the engineering department as mandated and required by the Water Operations Director.

 

Environment:

Provo Water Company Limited is a privately owned regulated water utility located on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. The islands are a high-end tourist destination for about 300,000 guests annually. The islands’ population is about 30,00 residents. The company supplies potable water treated by seawater reverse osmosis. The company operates under seven departments.

 

Department information:

You will join the team (currently of 3) of engineers working to develop and deliver the network design which feeds into the Provo Water Company strategy.

You will also collaborate with other PWC department managers when working on projects and as needed in business development.

 

Terms and conditions:

Hours – This is a full-time post working 40 hours a week not inclusive of overtime.

 

Salary – $70,000 per annum. Benefits –4 weeks annual leave, plus public holidays. The holiday year is 1 January – 31 December. A company vehicle and a company cell phone.
