HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Officer will perform duties in the areas of Recruitment and Selection, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Relation and Staff Development. The main emphasis is to assist the Seniorf Human Resource Director with the process and procedures that may be implemented in order to manage the negotiation, execution, performance, modification and termination of contracts of employees and contract workers. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with excellent organization and negotiation skills. Ensure contract workers performance is in accordance with all the terms and condition of the contractual agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes but not limited to)

  • Administer employee contract development and management activities, and enforce organizational principles of integrity and compliance.
  • Assist to negotiate contract terms and agreements.
  • To administer contracts / offer packages.
  • Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate on an ongoing basis about contractual issues.
  • Assist with the review of contractual performance of employees to ensure compliance with terms and agreement of deliveries, in alignment with the job description.
  • Identify conflicts or changes requiring resolution at contract renewal.
  • Maintain a record keeping database for all employee contract-related correspondence and documentation.
  • Provide contract- related issue resolution, both internally and externally.
  • Monitor and complete contract close-out, extension or renewal, as appropriate.
  • Communicate contract-related information to all stakeholders.
  • Perform appropriate clinical, administrative and operational research to support contract development.
  • Draft contractual provisions based on strategy discussions, senior management input, and organizational needs and expectations.
  • Assure accuracy and appropriateness of contract text and attachments.
  • Keep abreast with Jamaican labour laws and policies and advise the Director on changes associated with the legislative laws.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Perform other special projects and HR duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with recruiting, technical recruiting a plus.
  • Strong contract negotiating skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Be knowledgeable of Human Resource Information System (HRIS). 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of Jamaica’s Labour Laws and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with daily tasks.

 Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources.
  • Three to five years of Human Resources recruitment and contract administration experience required; corporate recruiting experience preferred.
  • Negotiation skills is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in performing professional level human resources duties.
  • Extensive knowledge of local labour legislation, rules, and/or regulations governing human resource policies/procedures, practices
  • Proficiency using computers, specifically Microsoft Office products and HRIS systems.
