Manager, Sales and Product development
JOB SUMMARY:
The focal areas under the purview of the role include product development and sales which involve product design (leveraging customer data and analytical skills), ticket sales (ticket traders, and vendor engagement and management), and corporate sales (advertising and rentals, etc.). The Manager will work with, lead, and coach, a team of Sales and Product Development professionals as well as work closely with intra- and inter-departmental teams as required in the execution of responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic, leadership, and administrative responsibilities including:
- Ensures that the targets highlighted in the strategic plan and departmental plans are met and updated accordingly
- Responsible for execution and management of strategic initiatives as required
- Provides regular and necessary reporting regarding strategic objectives as required
- Prepares all monthly reports for Senior Management meetings
- Prepares weekly updates on revenue to the Head of Department
- Plans, organises, executes, and manages events including tradeshows, customer and partner events, industry events, sales training sessions and other corporate events
- Under the direction of the Head of Department, liaises with the contracted advertising agencies of the Corporation
- Allocates resources within the Sales and Product Development Department
- Modifies processes as necessary in collaboration with the Head of Department
- Represents the Corporation at local and overseas conferences, meetings, as needed
- Responsible for demonstrating and upholding the Corporation’s values and developing and overseeing initiatives to embed same within the Department
- Carries out other duties and assignments as advised by the Head of Department
Functional responsibilities:
Sales including:
- Recommends purchases in accordance with approved guidance and budget allocations
- Oversees the implementation of sales programs by developing sales action plans
- Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and leading practice
- Assists with the revenue generation portfolio
New product development including:
- Develops additional revenue generation services plans for the Corporation
- Manages and grow the following revenue services of the Corporation: Know your country Tours; Charter Services for Corporate, Business, Ministries and individuals; Travel Cards; Bus Shelters, Bus advertising internally and externally; Concessionaires; Property Advertising; External Vehicle Repairs (EVR); Tickets; any other revenue streams
- Monitors tours, charter services, travel cards and bus shelters and any other revenue streams
- Engages with sales clients/vendors as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field
- Postgraduate qualifications in a related field will be considered an asset
- At least five years relevant experience in sales, vendor management, or senior professional level in a similar environment
- Sufficient analytical skills of trends and results within a similar role are key
- At least three years of experience in new product development
- Strong project management and leadership and coaching skills
- Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
