Job Profile

The VP Marketing is charged with the very exciting responsibility of marketing Brand Jamaica through various channels and mediums. The Vice President will oversee the Marketing Division of JAMPRO which includes local and overseas offices while giving support to the Investment and Linkages and Export teams of the organization. A very dynamic office the marketing division is the face of JAMPRO with a mandate which includes:

  • Managing the overall organisation’s strategic marketing plan in keeping with sector promotional plans and an overarching corporate communications strategy
  • Developing channel promotions, events and initiatives for all channel resources
  • Overseeing the implementation of JAMPRO’s Economic Diplomacy Strategy for overseas representation as well as consular and diaspora engagement
  • To produce research that provides data on product and market intelligence and feedback from stakeholders in order to assist the government and the organization in the facilitation of increased trade and investment.
  • To identify and package business opportunities that can be marketed to drive investments 

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic, results oriented Vice President who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the President, the VP Marketing is expected to lead and inspire the team to achieve the targets set and ensure that the activities of the division are in line with the mandate of the organization. The Vice President is expected carry out functions to effectively manage the Division.  These functions include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Develop initiatives to raise Jamaica’s local and international profile as a business destination
  • Develop initiatives and or campaigns to raise the awareness of JAMPRO’s services, plans and achievements in a bid to increase the organisation’s positive image
  • Devise and implement a channel marketing, strategy and campaign for JAMPRO and Jamaica aligned to the organization’s strategic plan and sector marketing plans
  • Oversee the tracking of enquiry and lead generation and conversion rates of electronic assets with a view to improving the usability, design and content of these assets
  • Lead and provide oversight for all external communications for the organization (including speeches, presentations, collateral material, corporate publications, etc.)
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with key channel partners and local/international media
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of targeted market development roadmaps by JAMPRO’s Regional Offices in keeping with agreed sector promotional strategies
  • Oversee the overall functions of the Regional offices including lead generation/conversion, international stakeholder network expansion, and the provision of market intelligence to sales and marketing departments.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of JAMPRO’s Economic Diplomacy Strategy
  • Lead the development of research based on the information requirements of the organisation and its clients, including due diligence research and research on potential clients
  • Work with the Vice Presidents of Investment and Linkages; and Exports in the development and promotion of strategies to achieve investment, linkages and export targets;
  • Oversee the development and execution of promotional activities being undertaken in discrete sector areas
  • Undertake human resource management activities in relation to direct reports, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, performance management and evaluation, training, coaching, disciplining and approval of leave for local and overseas based staff in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage Divisional budgets as a part of the Agency’s corporate plan and budget, including oversight of required procurement activities
  • Forecast and achieve annual performance metrics for the Division
  • Represent JAMPRO at local and international client or stakeholder meetings and other fora.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the President.

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies of the Preferred Candidate

  • Graduate Degree in Media/Communications, Marketing or related equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ work experience at a senior management level in Corporate Communications, Media, Marketing or Business in the private or public sectors.
  • Advanced critical thinking, research and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • In-depth knowledge of business communications, reputation management principles and best practices and New Media;
  • Knowledge of local and international media operations
  • Knowledge of country/destination branding theory and practice
  • Excellent organizational and events/project management skills
  • Knowledge of multimedia, spatial and display design concepts
  • Excellent leadership and teambuilding skills
  • Strong networking skills
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Knowledge of protocol, business etiquette, and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of the Jamaican economy and society
