This role is focused on supervising the operational systems and procedures for the effective and efficient distribution of products while ensuring quality and cost savings and managing the Delivery Drivers on OTIF metrics and customer delivery requirements.

We are seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position in the Distribution Centre:

DELIVERY SUPERVISOR

Major Responsibilities & Accountabilities:  

  • Plans loads and routes to effectively utilize vehicle capacity to optimize cost savings.
  • Supervises the DR Reconciliation procedure, ensuing all invoices and collections are accounted for by the Coordinator.
  • Assigns planned loads based on the Contractor Attendance Record in compliance with set Loading Guidelines and bay availability. 
  • Oversees the Dispatch and Loading functions to ensure procedural compliance and goods are properly secured before leaving the compound.
  • Communicates with customers to determine driver needs, schedules and notifies drivers of the requirements.
  • Prepares and submits the daily Shift Report by the end of the shift to key stakeholders.
  • Ensures the Return Policy is adhered to and that all returned products from delivery and/or trade are fully accounted for by the end of the Shift.
  • Ensures all delivery routes are uploaded to the POD Tablets before drivers’ departure.
  • Audits contract delivery vehicles for roadworthiness, insurance validity and load weight conformance and reports monthly on findings to the Shift Team Lead.
  • Inspects the loading area ensuring pallets and LPG tanks are properly stored, the dock is cleared of undelivered product and free of debris and waste by the end of the Shift and reports non-conformances to the Shift Team Lead.
  • Inspects staging area for  undelivered orders, investigates root cause and takes corrective action where applicable
  • Meets daily/weekly with Shift Team Lead to discuss delivery attainment performance and corrective actions for improvement.
  • Ensures all order discrepancies are investigated, rectified where applicable and compliant with the Order Discrepancy Procedure.
  • Conducts daily handovers to the alternate Delivery Supervisor to ensure information and necessary follow-up actions are clearly and accurately communicated.
  • Establishes and maintains positive customer relationships, resolving customer issues.
  • Ensures adherence to HSE Incident/Accident Reporting and reports unsafe conditions to Shift Team Lead and follows up for resolution.
  • Participates in stock counts as required
  • Participates in improvement, safety and housekeeping initiatives.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • An Advanced Level Certification in Inventory Management
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a distribution environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and any other related software
