Application Analyst
Applications are invited from suitably qualified professionals to resource the role of Application Analyst II, Information and Knowledge Management Department. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director, Information and Knowledge Management Department and will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and approving the work of the Application Analyst I to ensure accuracy and consistency prior to final implementation to production or to the Head of Section.
- Supervising the conduct of user acceptance operational and end-to-end tests for JamFIRMS system within agreed timelines and standard as assigned.
- Designing and modifying data forms, templates and workflows in accordance with request from internal end-users.
- Providing on-going end user and operational system support to BOJ team and financial institutions for JamFIRMS related issues within agreed timelines and standard as assigned.
- Performing configuration changes (inclusive of JamFIRMS) as specified through the change request process within agreed timelines and standard as assigned.
- Utilizing Vizor Builder tool to build and edit rules in JamFIRMS within agreed timelines and standard as assigned.
- Conducting user acceptance and quality assurance tests for product release and returns updates within agreed timelines and standard.
- Verifying migrated BSS/FISIS data set against data in warehouse within agreed timelines and standard as assigned.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems (MIS)/Computer Science, and Banking & Finance with five (5) years’ work experience in applications and/or application development tools.
Experience programming using C-Sharp and Java would be preferred.
Designation in CFA, CERA, FRM, or PRM would be an asset.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
The job holder should have:
- Knowledge of the Bank of Jamaica Act, the Banking Services Act, the Financial Institutions’ Act, Building Societies Act and any other relevant legislation, BOJ directives and regulations.
- Understanding of supervisory best practices, legislation and regulation.
- Knowledge and awareness of the BOJ’s business and operations.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills
- Understanding of accounting and banking systems.
- Knowledge of standards and procedures in the development and implementation of information systems.
- Strong information technology skills particularly sound knowledge of business intelligence tools/software.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Report writing skills.

- Requires a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Required to travel frequently within the corporate area, and in some instances, rural Jamaica, and to overseas branches of licensees.
- Exposed to unpredictable work demands related to developments beyond the control of, and external to the Division.
- Exposed to extended periods of concentration on exacting detail.
- Required to work beyond normal working hours, when necessary, in order to meet
- deadlines.
