About the Role

The Credit Risk Analyst is dedicated to the due diligence inclusive of verification and adjudication of credit applications (focus mainly on consumer lending primarily, e.g. auto, credit card, and unsecured lending), ensuring that they exercise sound credit practices and provide positive client experiences, processing applications in a timely manner. The Analyst assesses credits and monitors / manages adherence to the Bank’s credit risk policy, guidelines and procedures, and provides guidance and advice to front line lenders / officers and the business.

About Success

• Verifies documentation as per due diligence procedures / processes used to underwrite credit proposals, with a view to reduce instances of credit and non-credit losses. Escalates critical non-compliance issues to one-up manager / leadership for further investigation, if deemed necessary.

• Adheres to FirstCaribbean’s policies, guidelines, and procedures, including all operational requirements set down by the Credit Risk Management department. Ensures awareness and adherence to all regional central bank and regulatory requirements, avoiding risk that is not consistent with a prudently run financial institution.

• Provides a point of contact for branches, acting as subject matter expert, providing counselling and analysis to line lenders related to solving unusual or complex credit problems, the performance of their loan portfolios, outlining areas for improvement and recommending changes in practices.

About You

• 2-3 years in Banking or financial services; with preferably 1 year spent in retail / consumer risk

• Prior experience as a front-line retail lender preferred

• Prior experience working within a structured team environment

• Prior experience in credit structuring and negotiating
