REPORTS TO THE SENIOR MANAGER, MARKETING

GUARDIAN LIFE OF THE CARIBBEAN - BARBADOS

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Business Development Officer is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, implementing and measuring the success of marketing initiatives. Additionally, he/ she is required to provide quantitative and qualitative research, comprehensive analysis and recommendations geared toward enhancing and strengthening the organization’s overall market position in all regional territories within which Guardian Life of the Caribbean has a presence.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Marketing:

  • Assist the Marketing Manager in the development, design, implementation and evaluation of internal/ external marketing campaigns to support the Salesforce and Group Insurance Department.
  • Manage all Marketing strategies.
  • Produce reports and recommendations for continuous development and improvement of marketing      solutions.
  • Assist in the development of an internal & external marketing calendar of campaigns and promotions across the Business Unit.
  • Coordinate various events to support sales activity.
  • Deliver presentations at internal/external meetings to a variety of audiences; particularly internal      audiences.
  • Consult with the relevant parties in developing and implementing specialist programs that target GLOC’s future markets.

Product Development & Research:

  • Provide information and analysis on any issue related to new product development.
  • Work closely with all internal/ external stakeholders based on business need during the course of the research.
  • Produce reports/ presentations for management.
  • Collect data on consumers, competitors and market place and consolidate information into actionable items, reports and presentations.
  • Design surveys as required.
  • Compile and analyze statistical and market data using various methods as required.
  • Perform bi-annual SWOT analysis within each territory.
  • Provide competitive analysis on various companies and respective markets bi-annually.
  • Assist with the development of training material for products by preparing product overview documentation and assisting with training review content.
  • Make recommendations based on data to help determine product design.

 Product Development & Research:

  • Develop and maintain cordial relationships with the company’s management and senior management based on trust, knowledge and partnership.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the Senior Manager- Sales & Marketing.

EDUCATION:

  • 5 CXC/ CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language.
  • 2 A’ Level/ CAPE passes.
  • First Degree Marketing, Management or a related field from a recognized tertiary educational institution

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three (3) years’ experience in similar work environment.

PERSONALITY:

The Business Development Officer must be innovative and show initiative where necessary. He/ She must be a critical thinker, analytical, wary and very dependable. The position requires the incumbent to be methodical, extremely organized and detail oriented. He/ She must be able to work independently or as part of a team and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
