FUND ACCOUNTANT

The Jamaica Central Securities Depository (a subsidiary of the Jamaica Stock Exchange) seeks to identify a suitable candidate for the position of Fund Accountant.

FUND ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Manager – Fund Accounting Services, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are now limited to:  

•      Daily checking and review of bank accounts
•      Preparing GL journal entries
•      Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements
•      Preparing monthly broker reconciliation statements
•      Reconciling GL account balances and prepare adjusting entries
•      Preparing year end audit schedules
•      Providing detailed schedules to support financial reports
•      Preparation of Trial Balance
•       Preparation of draft financial reports quarterly and year end
•      Liaising with fund managers on the delivery of reports and discussing any discrepancies identified
•      Preparing and submitting annual and quarterly reports to the fund managers for submission to the regulatory authority
•      Providing guidance to Fund Accounting Officers

Qualifications and Basic Requirements

•      Minimum of a Bachelor’s  Degree  in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related areas or ACCA Qualification at Level 2
•      Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in finance management
•      In-depth knowledge of Fund Accounting
•      Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting and finance management practices, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing. 
•     Experience in Project Management

Skills/Abilities:

•      Proven ability to provide timely, high quality accounting services
•      Knowledge and use of Computerized Accounting Software
•      Excellent Computing Skills (Word Processing, Database/Spreadsheet, and project management tools).
•      High regard for accuracy and attention to details.
•      Ability to analyse, and evaluate facts and exercise sound judgment
•      Excellent time management
•      Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
